Job Summary
The Fragrance Evaluator will play a critical role in guiding fragrance development and selection in line with customer expectations, market trends, and brand philosophies. The role requires close collaboration with perfumers, sales, marketing, applications, and affiliates to ensure timely, market-relevant, and technically sound fragrance submissions across categories, including fine fragrances (EDP) and end-product applications.

Location: Nariman Point, Churchgate
Responsibilities
- Market Olfactive Expertise
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of competitive markets by category and odor type.
- Stay well-versed with fragrance philosophies of major customers, including:
- Product lines
- Brand positioning
- Fragrance preferences of key decision‑makers
- Understand and apply testing and evaluation protocols, including how to evaluate, test, and validate fragrances.
- Fragrance Library Management
- Organize, maintain, and curate the fragrance library of all developed fragrances.
- Continually review existing fragrances to determine their relevance and value for retention in the library.
- Project Review Development
- Review all international fragrance projects and communicate structured feedback on submissions to affiliates.
- Receive and evaluate all fragrance projects to:
- Determine suitability of existing library fragrances.
- Recommend new developments where required.
- Work closely with perfumery houses to set fragrance direction and guide development according to customer briefs, market trends, and regional standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales to define fragrance direction for projects.
- Evaluate progress of fragrances under development.
- Support fragrance selection for customer submissions.
- Coordinate with Perfumery, Sales Services, and Lab Teams to prioritize workflow and close projects efficiently.
- Work with the Lab Manager and Applications Team to coordinate samples for fragrance evaluation and review.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing to stay aligned with market trends, new product launches, and new product development meetings.
- Quality Documentation
- Conduct olfactory review of stability samples to ensure performance consistency.
- Prepare and compile fragrance descriptions for customer submissions, as requested by customers and/or the sales team.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (Chemistry or related field preferred).
- 5 to 10 years of experience as a Fragrance Evaluator in a reputed end-product manufacturing company (e.g., Fine Fragrances / EDP / FMCG).
- Candidates with prior experience exclusively in fragrance houses are not preferred.
- Strong technical acumen in Fragrance Chemistry and Fragrance Evaluation.
