Job description

The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role combines technical consulting, customer engagement, and hands‑on software development to address complex operational challenges. Working directly with customers and internal business teams, the position focuses on rapidly developing proofs of concept, applying artificial intelligence and data technologies, and implementing solutions within customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers and stakeholders to identify operational challenges and define business and data requirements

• Design and rapidly develop proofs of concept and technical prototypes

• Integrate application programming interfaces, databases, cloud services, and artificial intelligence capabilities within customer environments

• Evaluate proofs of concept and recommend appropriate approaches for production deployment

• Share customer insights and feedback with product teams to support solution and product development

• Collaborate with solution architects and product engineers throughout the solution delivery process

• Deliver technical demonstrations and presentations to customers and other stakeholders

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering or technical consulting

• Experience gathering requirements directly from customers and translating unclear business challenges into technical solutions

• Experience delivering proofs of concept, prototypes, or technical implementations

• Hands‑on coding experience as part of solution delivery

• Experience with application programming interfaces and system integration

• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, C#, .NET, JavaScript, or TypeScript

• Working knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, and either Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services

• For artificial intelligence assignments, knowledge of large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, artificial intelligence agents, and vector databases

• Strong English communication and presentation skills for customer‑facing engagements

• Preferred qualifications:

• Experience delivering artificial intelligence or digital solutions within a consulting company

• Domain expertise in banking, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or energy

• Experience developing industry‑specific artificial intelligence proofs of concept

• Experience working within a product company or artificial intelligence start‑up

• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, solution engineer, or customer engineer

• Experience supporting customers from pre‑sales through implementation

• Data engineering or machine learning operations experience
