Job summary

Dot & Key is seeking a Formulation Scientist to lead skincare and cosmetic product development with a strong emphasis on colour chemistry, pigments, textures, and shades. You will drive innovation, manage trials and stability testing, and ensure scalable manufacturing for multi-category products.

The role requires hands-on formulation skills across sunscreens, moisturizers, serums, and colour cosmetics, plus collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in skincare, beauty, personal care, or cosmetic formulation development.
• Hands-on exposure to colour chemistry / colour cosmetics is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop skincare and cosmetic formulations across categories including sunscreens, moisturizers, serums, rinse-off products, lip care, and colour cosmetics.
• Drive formulation innovation focusing on colour chemistry, pigments, textures, sensorial performance, and shade development.
• Manage formulation trials, stability testing, and manufacturing feasibility for new products.
• Collaborate with NPD, sourcing, packaging, regulatory, and marketing teams for successful launches.
• Evaluate new ingredient technologies and global beauty trends for product development.
• Support scale-up and manufacturing processes to ensure consistency and optimized output.
• Maintain formulation documentation, stability reports, and technical protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal processes.

About the Role:

We are looking for an innovative and execution-focused Formulation Scientist to lead skincare and cosmetic product development across multiple categories. This role will have a strong emphasis on colour chemistry and cosmetic formulations, driving innovation across textures, sensorials, pigments, shades, and product performance while ensuring stability, scalability, and seamless commercialization in a fast-paced beauty and personal care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently develop skincare and cosmetic formulations across categories including sunscreens, moisturizers, serums, rinse-off products, lip care, and colour cosmetics.
• Drive formulation innovation with a strong focus on colour chemistry, pigment compatibility, texture optimization, sensorial performance, and shade development.
• Manage product development activities including formulation trials, sensory evaluation, stability testing, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Collaborate with NPD, sourcing, packaging, manufacturing, regulatory, and marketing teams for successful product launches.
• Evaluate and implement latest ingredient technologies, colour trends, and global beauty innovations into product development.
• Support product scale-up and manufacturing processes to ensure formulation consistency and optimized output.
• Maintain formulation documentation, stability reports, and technical protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal product development processes.

Preferred Skills & Know-how:

• Strong expertise in skincare, cosmetic, and colour cosmetic formulation development.
• Hands-on experience in colour chemistry including pigments, shades, textures, and cosmetic actives.
• Experience across suncare, moisturizers, serums, rinse-off, lip care, and colour cosmetic categories preferred.
• Good understanding of ingredient technologies, formulation stability, and sensory optimization.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Technology, Chemical Engineering, Oil Technology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in skincare, beauty, personal care, or cosmetic formulation development.
