Job summary

Balasore Alloys seeks a qualified Foreman/Mate to supervise shift production in our mine operations. The role requires ensuring daily production targets are met, adherence to Mines Act duties, and coordination with survey, geology, and maintenance teams.

The candidate should hold DGMS Foreman/Mate certificate, have experience in mechanised opencast mining with a large fleet, and be willing to work rotating shifts at the mine site. Blasting supervision experience will be an advantage.

Qualifications

• DGMS Foreman/Mate certificate is mandatory.
• Experience in mechanised opencast mining with large HEMM fleet.
• Blasting supervision experience; Shotfirer’s permit advantageous.
• Willingness to work in rotating shifts at the mine site.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shift production operations excavation, loading, hauling, dozing and dumping — to meet the daily production plan.
• Discharge statutory duties of a Foreman / Mate under the Mines Act 1952 and Metalliferous Mines Regulations, including workplace inspection and entries in the statutory register.
• Supervise drilling and blasting operations, charging, stemming, blast area clearance, warning signals and post-blast inspection.
• Deploy manpower and equipment optimally across the shift and record production, machine hours and idle time.
• Ensure safe bench geometry, haul road condition, dump stability, illumination and drainage in the working section.
• Enforce PPE usage, safe operating procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Practice.
• Report accidents, dangerous occurrences and unsafe conditions immediately and support investigations.
• Coordinate with Survey, Geology and Maintenance teams for face preparation and equipment availability.
