Job summary

VIT in Chennai seeks a senior Fire & Safety professional to lead campus fire safety and emergency preparedness. You will plan and implement safety protocols, train staff and students, and coordinate with security, engineering, and administration to ensure rapid response.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering, 15+ years of experience in large campus or institutional settings, and preference for retired government officials with relevant expertise.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Fire & Safety Engineering or a relevant field
• 15+ years in fire safety, preferably in large campus environments
• Preference for retired government officials with relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Ensure fire safety and emergency preparedness across the campus.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, sprinklers, pumps, and other safety equipment.
• Conduct regular fire drills, evacuation drills, and safety training.
• Identify fire hazards and implement timely corrective actions.
• Maintain fire safety inspection, maintenance, and incident records.
• Coordinate emergency response with Security, Engineering, and Administration teams.
• Handle fire department liaison, including NOC, approvals, renewals, inspections, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with Fire & Rescue Services and other authorities when required.
