Job summary

Growth For Impact in Kolkata seeks a Fire Safety Officer to manage building safety, operate fire detection and protection systems, and conduct drills educating residents and staff on fire and rescue procedures.

You will supervise firefighting equipment, prepare safety reports, maintain life safety policies, and coordinate with Operations Manager‑Technical and other teams to uphold compliance and ensure rapid responses.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in science is required.
• Qualification from National Fire Service College with 5–10 years of experience.
• Knowledge of fire suppression techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with fire records systems and fire reporting procedures.
• Knowledge of emergency medical services.
• Ability to develop safety solutions and follow policies.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• On-site work in Kolkata, West Bengal.
• Willingness to work a 48‑hour weekly schedule.

Job description

ROLE

• Manage effective safety processes for building safety
• Maintain correct operation of fire detection and protection systems
• Conduct fire drills and educate residents/tenants on fire and rescue operations
• Supervise fire stock and ensure availability of firefighting equipment
• Maintain awareness of other fire personnel to protect firefighters’ lives as necessary
• Conduct and deliver training to staff and security personnel of the property
• Perform standard tests of existing firefighting equipment
• Prepare fire and safety related reports, including planning, risk assessment, and safety strategies
• Ensure standard operating protocols for fire and safety services
• Maintain ongoing communications with Operations Manager‑Technical and other building services staff
• Gain and maintain proficiency with the property’s life safety system
• Update and maintain Safety Policies and Procedures manual
• Keep working knowledge of current building fire and life safety code requirements
• Communicate with PM/Tech Manager regarding events, incidents, concerns, recommendations, and staffing needs
• Co‑develop operating guidelines and practices with management staff
• Establish and update project‑specific safety procedures

REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or Degree in science
• Qualification from National Fire Service College with 5–10 years of experience
• Good knowledge of current fire suppression and firefighting techniques and related equipment
• Good knowledge of fire records systems, communications equipment, fire computer applications, and fire reporting procedures
• Good knowledge of principles and practices involved in emergency medical services
• Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop short‑term and long‑term safety solutions
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions
