Adani Group is seeking a seasoned Fire & Safety professional to ensure effective fire prevention, protection and emergency readiness at a major thermal power plant

The role focuses on compliance with statutory requirements, conducting audits, trainings and incident investigations to minimize risk and protect personnel and assets. Strong leadership in safety management and contractor oversight is essential.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of Fire & Safety experience in large industrial environments.
• Tech/engineering degree in Fire & Safety related fields.
• Diploma in Industrial Safety or Fire & Safety Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fire protection system availability, reliability, and readiness across the plant.
• Monitor maintenance and testing of hydrants, pumps, sprinklers, detectors, alarms and extinguishers.
• Lead emergency response during incidents and coordinate with internal/external agencies.
• Conduct mock drills and evaluate preparedness across departments.
• Develop and review site emergency plans and fire protection procedures.
• Implement safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and inspections.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments; track corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and NBC/Factories Act.
• Monitor contractor safety during outages and maintenance.
• Drive safety initiatives toward zero accidents and incidents.
• Maintain records of incidents, audits, observations, and corrective actions.
• Promote safety awareness through campaigns and toolbox talks.

Job description

Purpose/Objective

To ensure effective implementation of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency response, and occupational safety systems at the thermal power plant.

The role is responsible for maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, minimizing fire and safety risks, conducting audits and training, and ensuring preparedness for emergency situations across plant operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• Fire Protection & Emergency Management - Ensure availability, reliability, and operational readiness of all fire protection systems and firefighting equipment.
• Monitor maintenance and testing of hydrant systems, fire pumps, sprinklers, detectors, fire alarm systems, and extinguishers.
• Lead emergency response during fire incidents and coordinate with internal and external emergency agencies.
• Conduct mock drills and evaluate emergency preparedness across departments.
• Develop and review site emergency response plans and fire protection procedures.
• Safety Management - Implement and monitor safety standards, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessment activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company EHS requirements.
• Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance during outages and maintenance activities.
• Drive safety initiatives aimed at achieving zero accidents and incidents.
• Compliance & Audit - Ensure compliance with Factories Act, National Building Code (NBC), Fire Safety Standards, and other applicable statutory requirements.
• Conduct internal EHS audits and support external regulatory inspections.
• Maintain records related to fire incidents, safety observations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Track closure of safety observations and audit findings.
• Training & Awareness - Conduct safety induction and firefighting training programs for employees and contractors.
• Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and behavioral safety initiatives.
• Develop competency-building programs related to emergency response and firefighting operations.
• Incident Investigation - Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and safety violations.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare incident reports and present findings to management.
