Job summary

SwaaS in Chennai seeks an Associate FinOps Engineer to monitor cloud spend, build cost dashboards, and drive budgeting and forecasting across AWS and Azure. You will collaborate with Finance, Cloud, and Business teams to optimise spend, ensure accurate reporting, and support governance initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in cloud financial operations, strong Excel/Power BI skills, and familiarity with Python or scripting for automation. Chennai on-site role.

Qualifications

• Experience in cloud cost management and FinOps processes.
• Proficient in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Familiar with AWS and Azure cost tools.
• Strong Excel and Power BI skills.
• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Automation scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash.
• Understanding of Kubernetes/container concepts.
• Financial and accounting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse cloud usage and spending across AWS and Azure; identify cost optimisations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, spend planning, and monthly financial reporting.
• Analyze cost trends and budget vs actual variance; provide actionable insights.
• Manage cloud tagging, cost allocation, chargeback and showback.
• Use AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS CUR, Azure Cost Management, and Azure Advisor.
• Identify idle, underutilised, orphaned, and non-compliant resources; support rightsizing.
• Develop and maintain cost dashboards and reports using Power BI and Advanced Excel; include SQL.
• Create simple automation scripts using Python/PowerShell/Bash for reporting and data collection.
• Collaborate with Cloud Eng, Platform Eng, Finance, Procurement, and Business teams on FinOps governance.
• Apply strong financial and accounting knowledge including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cost-centre accounting, reconciliation and variance analysis; understand cloud infra and Kubernetes.

Role & Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse cloud usage and spending across AWS and Azure environments and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
• Support cloud budgeting, forecasting, spend planning, and monthly financial reporting activities.
• Analyse cloud cost trends and perform budget vs. actual variance analysis to provide actionable insights.
• Manage and support cloud tagging, cost allocation, chargeback, and showback processes across business units and cost centres.
• Use AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS CUR, Azure Cost Management, and Azure Advisor for cloud cost monitoring and optimisation.
• Identify idle, underutilised, orphaned, and non-compliant resources and support rightsizing and resource optimisation initiatives.
