About the Role

We’re looking for a Finance Manager / Controller who can take full ownership of financial operations across our India and US entities. This role combines hands‑on accounting with strategic financial oversight, ensuring our books are clean, compliant, and ready for scale.

We see this role as a step up role for someone making their first foray into controllership.

What You’ll Do

This is a typical controller role reporting to the VP of Finance. You will be responsible for all operational and statutory activities across India and USA, including AP, AR, statutory compliances, monthly close, MIS, investor reporting, FP&A, audits, support for fundraise, and ESOP documentation.

We are a startup. The order and structure that you see in larger companies doesn't exist. You will help build it.

The role in the first few months will be highly operational, bringing order to everything. You will work closely with the VP of Finance to streamline book keeping, data management, daily and month close operations, and design their workflows, processes, and control mechanisms to make them reliable and accurate.

While this re‑building process is on‑going, you also have to ensure the day‑to‑day ops are not affected—transaction recording, compliances, payroll, closing, MIS reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, and forecasting.

You will also be managing all external partners, including the CA / CS firm in India, and the CPA firm in USA.

Over a period of time, you want you to grow and handle all aspects of controllership and FP&A, and work closely with the business to improve their operations and drive strategy.

Requirements - Hard Skills

• CA qualification is mandatory (this is a controller role after all)
• 3–5 years of experience post qualification, with at least 1‑2 years industry (excluding audit or shared services) experience is mandatory. US accounting exposure is a preferred. Startup experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards and Indian statutory compliances. Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and US tax laws is preferred.
• Knowledge of Transfer Pricing and DTAA (India–USA).
