City Greens is a fast-growing AgriTech startup building automation and AI-driven solutions for controlled environment agriculture. We seek a Finance Controller on-site in Bengaluru to own the controllership function, not the day-to-day bookkeeping, and to collaborate closely with the founder and leadership.

The role requires CA Inter with articleship or MBA Finance, 4–6 years of experience, and a hands-on approach to financial controls, reporting, and compliance across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee GST, TDS, income tax, PF, ESI, and ROC compliance; manage internal and statutory audits.
• Design and enforce financial controls, approval workflows, and process discipline.
• Coordinate finance across India, UK, and UAE operations with local accountants.

Finance Controller

City Greens is a fast-growing AgriTech startup building automation and AI-driven solutions for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). We build, automate, and operate commercial farm setups across India, the UK, and the UAE, and run a produce buy-back program supplying major retail platforms.

As we scale across geographies, we need a finance controller to own our financial control, reporting, and compliance — and give leadership a clear, timely picture of the numbers.

Role overview

We are looking for a finance controller to own the controllership function onsite. This is a control and oversight role, not a day-to-day book-keeping one — the routine accounting runs beneath you, and you own the close, the reporting, the compliance, and the controls on top of it. You will work closely with the founder and leadership, and someone who has done their articleship and worked under practising CAs will be a strong fit.

What you will do

Own the month-end and year-end close. Review the books maintained by the accounts team, run reconciliations, and ensure accurate, audit-ready financials across entities.

Reporting & MIS

Prepare and own monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow. Build MIS, budgets, and variance analysis that drive leadership decisions, and present the numbers with a clear point of view.

Oversee GST, TDS, income tax, PF, ESI, and ROC compliance. Manage statutory and internal audits end to end, and act as the primary point of contact for auditors and consultants.

Controls & governance

Design and enforce financial controls, approval workflows, and process discipline. Strengthen systems as the company scales and flag risks early.

Cross-border coordination

Oversee finance coordination across our India, UK, and UAE operations, working with local accountants and advisors where needed.

Who this role is for

• 4–6 years of experience, with articleship and time spent working under practising CAs
  


• CA Inter (with completed articleship), or MBA Finance with strong controllership exposure
  


• Someone who owns financial control and reporting, not day-to-day data entry
  


• Individuals who take ownership, communicate proactively, and follow through
  

Required

• Strong grasp of accounting standards, financial reporting, and close processes
  


• Hands‑on experience with statutory compliance (GST, TDS, income tax, PF, ESI, ROC)
  


• Experience managing audits independently
  


• Strong MIS, budgeting, and variance analysis skills in Excel
  


• Ability to review and supervise an accounts team rather than do the entries yourself
  


• Sound judgement, integrity, and attention to detail
  

Good to have

• Articleship or early career at a reputed CA firm
  


• Experience across multiple entities or geographies
  


• Exposure to cross-border / international accounting
  


• Familiarity with Tally, Zoho Books, or similar
  


• Prior experience in a scaling startup environment
