Job summary

A Planning Head directs the strategic, operational, and resource planning of a business or major project to meet organizational goals on time and within budget. This senior leader oversees scheduling, mitigates risks, manages large-scale budgets, and coordinates cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and sustainable growth.

Core Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Formulate, develop, and align departmental/project strategies with broader business objectives and growth plans.
• Budget & Resource Management: Prepare dynamic budgets, manage cash flow projections, and optimize the allocation of manpower, materials, and finances.
• Project Scheduling & Monitoring: Oversee project timelines, logical sequencing, and critical paths using advanced software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Risk & Contract Management: Identify project deviations or bottlenecks, establish risk mitigation strategies, and facilitate effective contract and stakeholder negotiations.
• Reporting & Analytics: Generate vital MIS reports, S-curves, labor histograms, and performance metrics to provide actionable insights for senior leadership and clients.
• Team Leadership: Mentor, supervise, and direct planning teams to ensure all work adheres to quality standards and operational baselines.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Schedule Variance: Measure of project deliverables met on or ahead of the baseline schedule.
• Budget Variance: Percentage of project costs remaining within the approved financial budget.
• Resource Utilization: Efficiency of allocated manpower, materials, and equipment.
• On-Time Delivery Rate: Percentage of customer orders or project milestones fulfilled on time in full (OTIF).
• Forecast Accuracy: Accuracy rate of capacity and demand planning models.
