Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in commerce or related field.
• Experience in factory accounting preferred.
• Knowledge of GST and TDS compliance.
• Proficiency in Tally and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial accounting & reporting for the factory, including records for purchases, sales, expenses, and payroll.
• Track production costs, maintain inventory records, prepare cost sheets and analyse variances.
• Ensure GST, TDS and other statutory returns are filed timely; coordinate with auditors.
• Process payroll for factory workers and staff; verify vendor invoices and payments.
• Coordinate with head office finance for consolidated reporting and support cost-control initiatives.

Job description

The Factory Accountant is responsible for managing all financial and accounting operations related to the manufacturing unit, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, statutory compliance, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Ensure day-to-day accounting records for the factory, including purchases, sales, expenses, and payroll
• Maintain accurate records of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and MIS reports
• Reconcile bank statements, ledgers, and vendor accounts
• Assist in preparation of budgets and variance analysis

Cost Accounting

• Track and analyse production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overheads
• Prepare cost sheets and monitor cost variances against standard costs
• Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile with book records

Statutory Compliance

• Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, and other applicable tax returns
• Coordinate with auditors for statutory, internal, and tax audits
• Ensure compliance with factory-related financial regulations (excise, customs if applicable)
• Maintain records for statutory bodies (PF, ESI, labor welfare, etc.)

Payroll & Vendor Management

• Process factory worker/staff payroll, including overtime and statutory deductions
• Verify and process vendor invoices and payments
• Manage petty cash and factory expense accounts

Coordination & Support

• Liaise with head office finance team for consolidated reporting
• Support production and procurement teams with financial data
• Assist management with cost-control initiatives and process improvements

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter (preferred)
• Experience: 10 years in factory accounting
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Tally and ERP systems, MS Excel; knowledge of GST, TDS, and cost accounting principles
