Job summary

Companion Placements is seeking a hands-on Industrial/Production Engineer for garment manufacturing. You will lead production optimization, implement lean methods, perform time studies, and design layouts for efficient operations.

You will work with cross-functional teams to monitor KPIs, train operators, and ensure quality compliance with BSCI/SEDEX standards. A Bachelors in Industrial or Textile Engineering and 4–5 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Textile Engineering / B.Tech.
• 4–5 years of experience in garment/textile roles.
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with BSCI, SEDEX, ISO standards.
• Experience with garment machinery and production technologies.

Responsibilities

• Production Optimization: analyze and improve production processes; implement lean principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow.
• Time Study: conduct time and motion studies, identify bottlenecks, optimize capacity.
• Process Engineering: develop and improve garment processes; create process flows and layouts; work with production teams to implement changes.
• Cost Reduction: identify areas for cost reduction in labor, materials, and overheads; suggest productivity improvements.
• Factory Layout Planning: design layouts for machines, workstations, and lines to maximize efficiency.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: analyze production data; prepare reports; use data to predict outcomes and solve problems.
• SAM & Trims Consumption Calculation: calculate SAM/thread/trims; build up plans for upcoming weeks; plan for machines and manpower.
• Quality Control: ensure processes align with quality standards and BSCI audit requirements; collaborate with QC team.
• Training & Development: train operators and staff on best practices; support skill development in garment handling and machine operation.

Role & responsibilities

• Production Optimization:

• o Analyze and improve existing production processes.
• o Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow.
• o Monitor production flow, and suggest improvements for smoother operations.

Work Study & Time Study:

• o Conduct time and motion studies to assess production timings and set standard times.
• o Identify bottlenecks and optimize production capacity.
• o Evaluate operator performance based on time study data and suggest productivity enhancements

Process Engineering:

• o Develop, evaluate, and improve garment manufacturing processes.
• o Create process flows and layouts for efficient production.
• o Work with production teams to implement new processes.

• Cost Reduction

• o Identify areas for cost reduction in terms of labor, materials, and overheads.
• o Suggest methods to increase productivity and reduce operational costs without compromising quality.

Factory Layout Planning:

• o Design and implement layouts for machines, workstations, and production lines to maximize efficiency.
• o Ensure optimal use of space and resources.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• o Analyze production data and prepare reports to monitor production efficiency and suggest improvements.
• o Use data to predict production outcomes and proactively solve problems.

SAM & Trims Consumption Calculation:

• o Should Know the Process to calculate the SAM/ Thread /Trims Consumption.
• o Make Buildup plan for upcoming Weeks.
• o Make Plan for Machine & Manpower for upcoming Weeks.

Quality Control:

• o Ensure production processes align with quality standards and BSCI audit requirements.
• o Work closely with the quality control team to ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Training & Development:

• o Train operators and staff on best practices for improved efficiency.
• o Provide support in skill development for workers, especially in garment handling and machine operation.

Preferred candidate profile

Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

• Expertise in time and motion studies.
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools like Excel, AutoCAD, and garment industry-specific software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and quality teams.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Knowledge of apparel production processes and techniques.

• Familiarity with compliance standards like BSCI, SEDEX, and ISO but not necessary

• Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or Textile Engineering / B.Tech / Graduate.

• 4-5 years of experience in a similar role within the garment or textile industry.
