Job Objective/ Purpose
To implement, monitorand drive the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) management system at theassigned solar/wind project site, with primary accountability for achieving100% EHS training coverage of all manpower, 100% completion of scheduled mock drills,and timely, accurate EHS reporting (daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly) toRegional EHS Officer.
The role acts as thesite-level driver of a Zero Harm culture through consistent field presence,training delivery, digital EHS tool adoption and disciplined reportingcompliance.
Job Role
The EHS Officer shallbe responsible for day-to-day implementation of EHS requirements at the projectsite, working under the guidance of the Regional/Project EHS In-Charge and inclose coordination with Project/Site teams.
The role will drivefield-level safety compliance, ensure every manpower on site is trained andinducted before deployment, ensure mock drills are conducted as per theemergency response calendar, and maintain disciplined, on-time EHS reportingand dashboard/presentation support for management review.
JobResponsibility
Site EHS Training
- Ensure 100% EHS induction training for allnew workmen, staff, and contractor manpower prior to site deployment; no workerto be mobilized on site without completing induction.
- Plan and deliver toolbox talks, job-specifictraining (work at height, electrical safety, lifting, excavation, confinedspace, LOTO, PTW, etc.), refresher trainings and safety campaigns to achieveand maintain 100% trained manpower on site.
- Maintain training matrix/tracker withphotographic evidence, attendance records and competency verification for everyindividual on site; track and close training gaps to Nil pending.
Mock Drills
- Prepareand implement the site mock drill calendar covering all identified emergencyscenarios (fire, medical emergency, working at height rescue, electrical,chemical spill, natural calamity, etc.) as per the Emergency Response Plan.
- Ensure100% completion of scheduled mock drills with full participation of siteworkforce, contractors and emergency response team; document learnings andclose out gaps identified during drills.
- Coordinatewith local emergency services (fire, hospital, disaster management) asapplicable and maintain emergency contact directories and mutual-aidarrangements.
EHS Reporting & Presentations
- Prepareand submit Daily EHS reports (manpower, activities, observations, PPEcompliance, incidents/near misses, weather, permits) to site and regionalmanagement.
- Prepareand submit Weekly EHS reports summarizing training status, inspection findings,non-conformities, corrective actions and KPI trends.
- Prepareand submit Fortnightly EHS reports/dashboards covering leading and laggingindicators, audit closure status and mock drill status.
- Prepareand submit Monthly EHS reports and management presentations covering EHSperformance, training coverage %, mock drill completion %, incident statistics,CAPA status and improvement plans.
- Maintainaccuracy, consistency and timeliness of all reporting; ensure zerodelay/default in submission timelines.
EHS Tool Implementation
- Driveimplementation and daily usage of digital EHS platforms/apps for incidentreporting, inspections, permit-to-work, training records and dashboardgeneration at site level.
- Trainsite personnel and contractor supervisors on use of digital EHS tools; ensurereal-time and accurate data entry by all users.
- SupportRegional/Corporate EHS in rollout, troubleshooting and adoption of new EHSdigital tools and system upgrades.
General Field EHS Responsibilities
- Implementsite-specific EHS plans, SOPs, HIRA, JSA, Permit-to-Work system and LegalRegister requirements at site level.
- Conductdaily field inspections/patrols covering work at height, electrical safety,lifting operations, excavation, hot work, housekeeping and PPE compliance;issue stop-work instructions where required.
- Verifycontractor EHS compliance including mobilization clearance, competency ofoperators/riggers, equipment fitness certificates and PPE adequacy.
- Supportincident/near-miss investigation, root cause analysis and CAPA tracking toclosure.
- Coordinateinternal/external EHS audits and inspections; ensure timely closure ofobservations.
WorkExperience
- 5–7years of relevant experience in EHS/construction safety, preferably inrenewable energy, power, EPC or infrastructure project construction.
- Hands-onfield experience in construction safety, work at height, electrical safety,lifting operations and contractor safety supervision.
- Priorexperience in conducting large-scale EHS training programs and mock drillspreferred.
- Experiencewith digital EHS reporting tools/apps and dashboard-based reporting preferred.
- Experiencein solar/wind power project construction will be an added advantage.
- Willingnessto be based at site and travel within the project location as required.
Qualificationand Certification Required
- Diploma/ Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or equivalent -Mandatory.
- Diplomain Industrial Safety – Mandatory.
- NEBOSHIGC / IOSH / OSHA or equivalent certification preferred.
- FirstAid and Fire Safety certification preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Technology Platform
- Workingknowledge of EHS statutory requirements applicable to construction/renewableenergy projects.
- Soundunderstanding of HIRA, JSA, PTW, LOTO, incident investigation and emergencyresponse procedures.
- Strongtraining delivery skills - capable of conducting inductions, toolbox talks andjob-specific trainings for large, diverse workforces.
- Abilityto plan, execute and document mock drills as per emergency response protocols.
- Disciplinedin report writing, data accuracy and adherence to reporting timelines(daily/weekly/fortnightly/monthly).
- Proficiencyin MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, dashboards and managementpresentations.
- Workingknowledge of digital EHS tools/apps and willingness to drive their adoption onsite.
- Goodcommunication and coordination skills with workmen, contractors, supervisorsand site management.
- Abilityto identify unsafe acts/conditions and stop unsafe work when required.
