Job summary

Bondada is seeking a Head – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) to lead all HSE activities for Solar PV projects. The role ensures compliance with laws, client requirements, and ISO standards while cultivating a strong safety culture across project sites.

The candidate will develop and implement HSE plans, conduct risk assessments, audits, trainings, and emergency drills; lead site safety teams; oversee PPE usage and environmental controls; coordinate with regulators and clients to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Diploma in Engineering or Safety-related field.
• NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA certification or equivalent.
• 8–15 years HSE experience, with at least 5 years in solar, power, infrastructure, or industrial construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and renewable energy risks.
• Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and HSE auditing.
• Proficiency with MS Office and HSE reporting systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the HSE management system for the projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
• Prepare project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, JSA, SWMS, and emergency plans.
• Lead site safety teams and coordinate activities across locations.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
• Monitor high-risk activities (height work, lifting, excavation, electrical, confined space, hot work).
• Investigate incidents, root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure PPE and safety equipment availability and use.
• Conduct inductions, toolbox talks, training, and drills.
• Coordinate with clients, regulators, and subcontractors on HSE matters.
• Monitor environmental compliance (waste, spills, dust, pollution).
• Maintain HSE records and safety metrics.
• Promote proactive safety culture and continuous improvement.

Job Summary

The Safety Head is responsible for leading and managing all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities for solar PV projects. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws, client requirements, company HSE policies, and international safety standards while fostering a strong safety culture across all project sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the project Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, client HSE requirements, and company safety policies.
• Prepare and review project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and emergency response plans.
• Lead site safety teams and coordinate HSE activities across multiple project locations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations to identify and eliminate hazards.
• Monitor high-risk activities, including work at height, lifting operations, excavation, electrical work, confined space entry, and hot work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
• Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, training programs, and emergency drills for employees and contractors.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, regulatory authorities, and subcontractors on HSE matters.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, spill prevention, dust control, and pollution prevention measures.
• Maintain HSE records, statutory documentation, inspection reports, incident reports, and safety performance metrics.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, awareness campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Professional certification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent).
• 8–15 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years in solar, power, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, electrical safety, and renewable energy project risks.
• Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and HSE auditing.
• Proficiency in MS Office and HSE reporting systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing HSE for utility-scale solar EPC projects.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary HSE teams across multiple project sites.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and training skills.
• Experience working with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

• Zero fatalities and reduction in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR).
• Achievement of project HSE targets and regulatory compliance.
