Job summary

LumaSonic is seeking a hands-on Lead Lighting professional with strong live event experience to guide the lighting team through planning, execution, and post-event review.

You will lead from load-in to load-out, coordinate with clients, artists, and technical crews, and ensure lighting plots, fittings, and effects meet client deadlines and expectations.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on event lighting experience for concerts, weddings, corporate events, festivals or similar productions.
• Ability to lead the lighting team, coordinate with clients, artists, producers and technical crews.
• Knowledge of LEDs, moving heads, special effects, and programming on lighting consoles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the HOD in leading the Lighting team, setting goals, resolving conflicts, and providing feedback.
• Assist the HOD in evaluating performance, planning, and revenue-related tasks.
• Assist with event planning, inventory management, and ensuring on-time delivery and setup.
• Communicate event schedules and client requirements to the Lighting team; coordinate with internal and external engineers.
• Assist with loading/unloading, setup, troubleshooting, and post-event evaluation.

Applicants must have practical experience operating professional event lighting systems for concerts, weddings, corporate events, festivals or similar productions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

LEADERSHIP

• Assist the HOD in leading the Lighting team, setting goals, resolving conflicts, and providing feedback.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION & RECOGNITION

• Assist the HOD in evaluating performance, setting goals, and managing increments and promotions as per the annual plan.

PLANNING

• Attend meetings regularly and assist the HOD in improving processes and identifying new revenue streams.
• Assist the HOD in planning and executing events, ensuring alignment with client needs, layouts, and deadlines.
• Assist the HOD in managing inventory, updating registers, verifying items, and overseeing outsourced equipment.
• Ensure proper equipment preparation, transport, storage, and assist with loading according to management guidelines.
• Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all company policies.

COMMUNICATIONS

• Assist the HOD in training the team, sharing innovations, and fostering idea exchange to achieve objectives.
• Communicate event schedules, HOD instructions, and client requirements to the Lighting team for smooth execution and task delegation.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external engineers to align stakeholders on event planning and execution.
• Notify the HOD of equipment issues or inventory shortages that may affect event timelines.

REVENUE MANAGEMENT

• Assist the HOD in pursuing event leads and managing events to maximize revenue within budget.
• Manage event expenses, calculate costs accurately, and follow SOPs for inventory outsourcing to optimize costs and maximize profit.
• Assist with invoicing, accurately record deliverables, and manage pre & post-event expenses.

EXECUTION

• Ensure timely setups, assist with troubleshooting & system alignment, and perform pre-dry run checks to prevent technical issues.
• Oversee the performance of lighting equipment to identify any deviations or malfunctions.
• Be flexible, multitask, and assist other departments as needed.

POST EVENT

• Ensure efficient dismantling, safe transport, and inventory crosscheck with the master list to prevent losses.
• Assist with loading/unloading and evaluate event performance for improvements.

MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS

• Manage inventory accurately, maintain equipment regularly, and ensure repairs at authorized centers.
• Follow up on servicing timelines and costs, and report equipment issues or shortages to the HOD.

PURCHASES

• Assist the HOD with sourcing, supplier negotiations, database management, and ensuring timely purchases, deliveries, and invoicing.

DRY HIRE

• Ensure equipment availability for dry hire, track inventory, follow up on client-held items, and verify returns against hire vouchers.

Requirements:

• Must have event lighting experience and strong technical skills with lighting equipment, effects, and programming on consoles like MA (GrandMA), Avolites, or similar.
• Lead the lighting team and coordinate with clients, artists, producers, and technical crews.
• Support the HOD in creating and implementing lighting plots, selecting the right fittings, effects, and equipment.
• Responsible for overseeing and supervising the setup process from load-in to load-out.
• Knowledge of various lighting equipment, including LEDs, moving heads, and special effects.
• Ability to set up, test, and troubleshoot lighting systems during live events.
• Ensure all lighting setups are completed within the client's deadlines and event schedules.
• Resolve technical issues during setup and events, ensure neat cable management & safe equipment handling.
• Manage high-pressure events, quick turnarounds, mentor juniors, & adapt to flexible timings.
