Job summary

Schlumberger Technical Services India (STSI) in Pune seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical discipline activities on oil & gas projects. The role covers design basis, vendor coordination, and technical evaluation across FEED and detailed engineering.

You will support FAT, commissioning, and on-site execution, travel as required, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, cost-efficient electrical systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Act as a discipline lead for the project.
• Develop project philosophy and design basis for their discipline.
• Manage vendor and subcontracted engineering company engineering tasks in his domain of expertise
• Prepare technical requisition and participating in vendor proposal technical evaluation.
• Support Electrical Equipment FAT and Commissioning.
• Carry out FEED verification activity by carrying out preliminary sizing calculations to ascertain the adequacy of various engineered equipment as outlined in ITT documents.
• Issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial offers from vendors.
• Prepare scope split matrix for the engineering work.
• Liaise with projects / planning as well as with engineering team at regional execution centres on project schedules, establish target completion dates, ensure target dates are achieved.
• Assign and distribute manpower for the execution of engineering activities within budgeted project man-hours. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs.
• Provide inputs for the preparation of equipment layout, organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC’s) coordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.
• Review vendor drawings and documents, design calculations and ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment specifications and are within budgeted costs.
• Coordinate with fabrication contractor and issue Installation detail drawings, cable tray and equipment support model extracts, MCT schedules etc.
• Prepare Material Take Off (MTO) for Bulks and initiate procurement activities, identify the gaps, take corrective action as required.
• Interface and provide technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers, provide construction, startup & commissioning, operation and maintenance assistance at as required.
• Co-ordinate with third party engineering companies and manage them on Electrical front.
• Participate in model and other design review such as SAFOP, HAZOP meetings as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel, as required to fulfil project and business needs.

• Power distribution sizing and planning
• Knowledgeable in motors, switchgears, VFDs and motor starters, low voltage equipment
• Experience in oil and gas industry (using ETAP), Single Line Diagrams, Layout Drawing preparation, Plant Engineering (involving Plant layout, cable Sizing, routing, Schedule, Lux Calculation, MCT Design), equipment Datasheets, Technical offer evaluation and vendor drawing review of major vendor packages, Equipment FAT & field commissioning support.
• IEC 60072, IEC 60079, API 14F, API 540
• Equipment specification for Hazardous area
• Independently handling of LV, MV and HV equipment, MCC, transformers, GTG, EDG, MTO’s.
• Understanding and perform electrical system studies such as Load flow, short circuit, harmonic analysis, transient stability, relay co-ordination, arc flash, etc., using ETAP.
• Sizing calculation and Designing of all electrical systems such as grounding, lighting, small power and power distribution arrangements, lightning, protection, Heat tracing and cathodic protection.
• Capable of handling inter-disciplinary coordination for smooth execution of workflow.
• Knowledge of hazardous classification specifications, schedule and layouts
• Knowledge of Lighting design using DIALUX software
• Experience in executing proposal, FEED and detail engineering of oil & gas projects.
• Knowledge of industry process such as PWT, Desalters, Power units, Dehydrators, Process Electric Heaters and control panels.
• All project phases execution from engineering to start up, including pre-commissioning, commissioning and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English (speaking and writing)
• Diploma: Bachelor/Masters
• Minimum 8+ years of experience
• Experience in oil and gas industry.

This is an office-based position, with the expectation to come in four days a week.
