Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to automate test execution across complex Java-based enterprise apps and APIs. You will design scalable automation frameworks using Selenium, RestAssured, Cucumber, TestNG, and Java, while applying AI-assisted tools to enhance test design and coverage.

Lead end-to-end quality activities across multiple product teams, align testing with business processes including investment banking operations when applicable, and ensure robust

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of progressive software testing and quality engineering experience.
• Proficient in Java and building, maintaining and debugging test automation frameworks using Selenium and RestAssured.
• Experienced in behavior driven development with Cucumber and TestNG.
• CI/CD experience and familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools a plus.
• Knowledge of investment banking operations is a bonus for realistic test scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Lead end to end quality engineering activities across multiple product teams by designing and executing comprehensive test strategies that ensure reliable delivery of complex Java based enterprise applications and scalable microservices


• Drive creation and maintenance of robust automation frameworks using Selenium RestAssured Cucumber TestNG and Java that support functional regression integration and smoke testing for web and API layers


• Oversee systematic use of AI code assist tools to optimize test design enhance automation code quality accelerate script development and increase coverage across critical user journeys and business workflows


• Provide hands on guidance for designing high value test scenarios that are risk based data driven and aligned with core business processes including any investment banking operations features where applicable


• Lead execution of automated and selective manual test cycles in a day shift office environment ensuring that every release meets agreed quality gates while minimizing production defects and service disruptions


• Coordinate defect management activities by validating issues prioritizing fixes collaborating closely with developers and analysts and tracking metrics to enable faster resolution and continuous product reliability improvements


• Implement scalable test data and environment management practices that support parallel test execution reduce flakiness in automation suites and ensure stable conditions for performance and functional validations


• Monitor and analyze key quality indicators such as defect density test coverage automation effectiveness and release readiness then translate insights into actionable improvements for engineering and product teams


• Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders including product owners architects and operations specialists to align testing outcomes with business value regulatory expectations and end user experience standards


• Guide adoption of best practices in behavior driven testing using Cucumber including writing clear scenarios that reflect business rules and establishing shared quality ownership across technology and business participants


• Ensure strong focus on non functional aspects of quality by advocating for performance reliability security and usability considerations within test strategy and by partnering with specialist teams where needed


• Contribute to documentation of test approaches automation standards and reusable assets so that the wider engineering community can leverage proven patterns and maintain consistency across programs


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality engineering by evaluating new tools refining automation approaches mentoring peers and promoting a culture where defect prevention and sustainable engineering are core values

Qualifications

• Possess eight to twelve years of progressive experience in software testing and quality engineering with substantial exposure to complex enterprise applications and large scale integration environments


• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Java and strong competence in building maintaining and debugging test automation frameworks that use Selenium for user interface testing and RestAssured for API validation


• Show proven experience in behavior driven development using Cucumber including the ability to write expressive scenarios design reusable step definitions and integrate with TestNG or similar test runners


• Exhibit practical expertise with TestNG including configuring suites managing parallel execution handling data driven tests and generating meaningful test reports for stakeholders and audit needs


• Apply AI code assist tools effectively to accelerate authoring of automation scripts improve code structure suggest refactoring options and support consistent adherence to internal engineering standards


• Display solid knowledge of continuous integration ecosystems by integrating automation suites into pipelines configuring scheduled runs and ensuring that quality checks are embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle


• Bring understanding of investment banking operations concepts such as trade lifecycle settlements reconciliation and risk checks as a bonus enabling creation of test scenarios that reflect realistic financial use cases


• Maintain strong analytical communication and collaboration skills that support engagement with diverse global teams and enable translation of complex requirements into clear measurable test objectives


• Adhere strictly to work from office expectations within a day shift schedule with flexibility to coordinate with distributed teams using virtual collaboration tools while avoiding travel commitments for project delivery
