Job summary

Sharppooint is seeking a Head - MEP Estimation (Mechanical) in Mumbai to lead its Mechanical Estimation & Tendering function. The ideal candidate will bring 10-18 years of experience in MEP/HVAC estimation, tendering, vendor management, value engineering, and a track record on Data Centre projects, with leadership of an estimation team.

Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory).
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in MEP / HVAC estimation and tendering.
• Data Centre / Mission Critical projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building services.
• Experience in techno-commercial proposals for large EPC/MEP/HVAC/Data Centre projects.
• BOQ preparation, quantity surveying, costing, budgeting, rate analysis and tender docs.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical / HVAC Estimation & Tendering for HVAC and MEP packages.
• Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, drawings and client requirements.
• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for large projects.
• Carry out quantity take-offs, rate analysis, material and labour costing.
• Estimate HVAC systems including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, pumps and ducts.
• Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Projects, Planning, Electrical, BD teams.
• Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate terms.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
• Prepare detailed technical and commercial bid submissions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and client discussions.
• Analyze market trends, equipment pricing and supplier capabilities.
• Support contract finalization and handover to execution teams.
• Build a network of HVAC suppliers, vendors and subcontractors.
• Develop estimation templates and cost databases.
• Lead and develop the estimation team for productivity and accuracy.

Job Summary

Head - MEP Estimation (Mechanical) to lead its Mechanical Estimation & Tendering function. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in HVAC and Mechanical MEP estimation, tendering, vendor management, value engineering, and cost optimization, with proven exposure to Data Centre projects.

The role requires strong leadership of the estimation team while ensuring commercially competitive, technically compliant, and accurate bids for large-scale MEP and mission-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical / HVAC Estimation & Tendering function for HVAC and associated MEP packages.
• Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, drawings, design documents, and client requirements.
• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for large commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and Data Centre projects.
• Carry out detailed quantity take-offs, rate analysis, material costing, labour costing, and overall project costing.
• Estimate HVAC systems including Chillers, AHUs, FCUs, Pumps, Cooling Towers, VRF/VRV systems, ventilation systems, ducting, piping, insulation, controls, and associated equipment.
• Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Projects, Planning, Electrical, and Business Development teams during bid preparation.
• Float RFQs, evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, and negotiate commercial terms.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives to improve project competitiveness without compromising technical requirements or quality.
• Prepare detailed technical and commercial bid submissions within stipulated timelines.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, technical clarifications, and presentations.
• Analyse market trends, equipment pricing, material costs, labour rates, and supplier/subcontractor capabilities.
• Support commercial negotiations, contract finalization, and handover of awarded projects to the execution team.
• Build and maintain a strong and reliable network of HVAC equipment suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain standardized estimation processes, cost databases, rate libraries, benchmarking systems, and estimation templates.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the estimation team to improve productivity, accuracy, and operational excellence.

Desired Candidate Profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory).
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in MEP / HVAC estimation and tendering.
• Hands-on experience in Data Centre / Mission Critical projects will be highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, Mechanical MEP services, and building services.
• Experience in preparing techno-commercial proposals for large-scale EPC, MEP, HVAC, and Data Centre projects.
• Excellent knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity surveying, costing, budgeting, rate analysis, and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial understanding with excellent vendor and subcontractor negotiation skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple tenders/bids simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of HVAC design concepts, equipment selection, specifications, and project requirements.
