Job summary

Alok Masterbatches in India seeks an experienced ESG lead to shape and drive sustainability strategy, aligning with GRI, BRSR, SDGs, UNGC, and IFC guidelines. You will build policies, define goals, and embed ESG across business functions.

The role oversees EcoVadis certification, external audits, data collection and reporting, stakeholder engagement, and climate initiatives including energy efficiency, waste management, and Net Zero planning.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant environmental field or law.
• Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, BRSR, SDGs, IFC, UNGC).
• Experience in ESG audits, reporting, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ESG framework aligned with global best practices (GRI, BRSR, UNGC, SDGs, IFC).
• Define short- and long-term ESG goals including carbon reduction and circular economy.
• Create policies, SOPs, and action plans to embed ESG across functions.
• Lead EcoVadis certification and maintain performance ratings.
• Manage external sustainability audits (SMETA, SEDEX, D&B, customer ESG assessments).
• Conduct gap analyses and ensure ISO 14001/45001/9001/27001 compliance and regulatory adherence.
• Prepare annual Sustainability Reports and BRSR disclosures.
• Collect, validate, and analyze ESG data for internal and external reporting.
• Benchmark ESG performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support communication with customers on ESG requirements.
• Liaise with agencies, auditors, certification bodies and government authorities.
• Partner with suppliers/customers on sustainable supply-chain practices.
• Build awareness and training programs to foster ESG culture.
• Drive renewable-energy, waste reduction, water conservation, and Net Zero initiatives.
• Oversee EPR, hazardous waste, plastic waste compliance and environmental clearances.
• Monitor biodiversity, conservation, and community engagement under CSR/ESG.

Key Responsibilities

1. ESG Strategy & Roadmap

• Develop and implement ALOKs ESG framework aligned with global best practices (GRI, BRSR, UNGC, SDGs, IFC guidelines).
• Define short- and long-term ESG goals, including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, biodiversity, circular economy, and responsible sourcing.
• Create policies, SOPs, and action plans to embed ESG across business functions.

2. Certifications & Assessments

• Lead the EcoVadis certification process and maintain performance ratings.
• Manage external sustainability audits (SMETA, SEDEX, D&B, customer ESG assessments).
• Conduct gap analyses and ensure compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, 9001, 27001, and environmental regulations (MoEF&CC, CPCB, SPCB).

3. ESG Reporting & Communication

• Prepare annual Sustainability Reports and BRSR disclosures.
• Collect, validate, and analyze ESG data for internal/external reporting.
• Benchmark ESG performance against peers and highlight areas for improvement.
• Support communication with customers on ESG requirements.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with external agencies, certification bodies, auditors, and government authorities.
• Partner with suppliers and customers on sustainable supply-chain practices.
• Build awareness and training programs to foster an ESG-driven culture within the organization.

5. Sustainability Initiatives

• Drive projects on renewable-energy adoption, waste reduction, water conservation, and Net Zero pathways.
• Oversee compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), hazardous waste, plastic waste, and environmental clearances.
• Monitor biodiversity, conservation, and community-engagement initiatives under CSR and ESG.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards, and certifications (EcoVadis, GRI, BRSR, SDGs, IFC, UNGC).
• Proven experience in ESG audits, compliance, reporting, and assessments.
• Expertise in environmental sustainability (carbon footprint, biodiversity, waste management, EPR).
• Strong project-management and analytical skills; ability to convert ESG data into actionable insights.
• Excellent stakeholder-management, communication, and presentation skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Postgraduate in Environmental Science, Sustainability, ESG, Law, or a related field.
• 1015 years of combined experience in ESG, sustainability, compliance, or environmental management.
• Hands-on experience in handling EcoVadis or equivalent certification.
• Exposure to both regulatory compliance (MoEF&CC, CPCB, SPCB) and corporate sustainability reporting (BRSR, GRI, UNGC).
