Job description

Role Objective

We are looking for an Equity Research Analyst to conduct in-depth research and analysis of companies, industries and market trends and generate actionable investment insights. The role will involve financial analysis, valuation, financial modelling and investment idea generation to support investment decisions and contribute to overall portfolio performance.

The analyst will primarily track the Automobiles and Auto Components sectors. Knowledge and experience in additional sectors will be an added advantage.


Key Responsibilities
Company & Industry Research
  • Conduct detailed analysis of companies, including financial statements, business models, competitive positioning, growth prospects and key business drivers.
  • Track and analyse Automobile and Auto Components companies, industry trends, market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • Identify key investment opportunities, risks and emerging trends within the sectors under coverage.
  • Monitor company announcements, corporate actions, industry developments, macroeconomic factors and other market-moving events.
Financial Modelling & Valuation
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for companies under coverage.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and conduct valuation analysis and scenario analysis.
  • Evaluate business performance, earnings outlook, key financial metrics and valuation multiples.
  • Develop in-house research models and analytical frameworks to support investment decisions.
Investment Research & Idea Generation
  • Generate equity investment ideas and actionable recommendations based on fundamental research and market analysis.
  • Develop investment theses supported by financial analysis, valuation and industry research.
  • Contribute investment ideas aimed at enhancing fund and portfolio performance.
  • Devise investment strategies focused on maximising returns for shareholders and policyholders.
Research Reports & Communication
  • Prepare comprehensive equity research reports covering investment thesis, financial performance, valuation, risks, key findings and recommendations.
  • Provide timely research updates on companies and sectors under coverage.
  • Present research insights and investment recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Interact with the CIO, Head of Equity/Research (HoE) and Fund Managers (FM) to understand investment requirements and provide relevant research inputs.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Fund Managers, Traders and other Research Analysts to share insights and discuss investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the overall investment decision-making process.
  • Respond to stakeholder queries and provide research-backed insights as required.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all research activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry standards.
  • Maintain objectivity, integrity and appropriate disclosures in all research activities.
  • Adhere to conflict-of-interest policies and internal control requirements.
  • Identify and promptly report operational risks or losses to the appropriate manager.
  • Implement recommendations arising from internal/external audits and regulatory reviews.
Continuous Learning
  • Stay updated on capital markets, economic developments, industry trends, valuation methodologies and equity research practices.
  • Continuously enhance technical and analytical capabilities through relevant learning, certifications and market experience.

  • Supporting investment strategies aimed at maximising shareholder and policyholder returns.

Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Strong experience in Equity Research / Investment Research / Fundamental Research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analysing Automobiles and Auto Components companies.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, company valuation, financial modelling and equity markets.
  • Ability to build and interpret detailed financial models and valuation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of industry dynamics, competitive analysis and market trends.
  • Ability to independently develop investment ideas and present a clear investment thesis.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Knowledge of additional sectors will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant professional qualifications/certifications in finance or investment research will be an advantage.
