Job description

Job Purpose:

Existing position:

– The purpose is to contribute to the investment decision making process of listed equities of company through fundamental investment analysis of sectors and stocks.

– This is a critical role within the Investment department.

– The role is responsible for research and tracking the stocks in the decided sectors (viz. Pharma, Consumer Staples, Retail, Hospitality and Healthcare) and provide recommendations to the HOE/CIO.

– The role has indirect influence on 10% of the listed equities portfolio (~Rs.800crs). The scope consists of generating Investment Idea of stock based on fundamental analysis and meeting management; updating valuation models to account for sector trends and making result notes, news updates on Sectors/stocks.

– The role demands to stay up to date on all related company/sector news to help HOE and CIO to make informed decisions.

Principal Accountabilities:

– To conduct research, create company reports, analyze financial information, and make predictions regarding

financial matters, and recommend for investment. Primary sectors- Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Staples, Retail, Hospitality and Healthcare

– Create and maintain earnings, valuation models for covered stocks. Making Investment notes, update notes,

Quarterly Result Notes and Annual report analysis of companies.

– Analyze data to identify emerging opportunities and risks, with reasoning

– Build relationships with investor relations teams of portfolio companies

– Maintain sector model portfolios

– To ensure timely monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual report generations

– HoE for valuation changes and keep him informed on Sector Trends, evaluation and review of ideas , research notes and

inputs on work done

– Research Team understanding and development of common practices for research, tracking and analysis

– Will need to engage with the the HoE/CIO and IC members

External Clients

– Company managements – for company updates and outlook

– Sell side Brokers (Analysts)- for information on companies and data inputs

– Buy side research

– Conduct field level meetings/plant visits for feedback

DIMENSIONS:

Financial Dimensions (These should be quantifiable numerical amounts):

– Target: To generate 2 new stock ideas every year every sector, to produce quarterly reports on all covered stocks. To generate all covered sector presentations twice a year.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Educational Qualifications:

a) Qualifications:

– Post-Graduate in Management/CA, CFA is a plus

Advanced MS office skills preferred:

Word Excel: Forms, Formulas, Functions, Pivot Tables, Macros, Graphs, visual Basic

PowerPoint: Graphics

b) Work Experience:

– Minimum 10-12 years of relevant sector experience (Sell side or Buy side)

– A detailed oriented self-starter with quality experience in the equity research

Skills and abilities:

– Profound understanding of equity markets on a global level. In addition, a deep understanding of fundamental analysis, financial modeling, and strategy research

– Strong analytical and communications (verbal and written) skills

– Hands on working on Information Portals (Bloomberg, Capitaline etc)

– Ability to operate independently

– Good attention to detail

– Ability to maintain confidentiality

– Problem solving and decision-making – develop solutions to a variety of complex problems
