Job summary

Sigma Earth in Pune is seeking an experienced Lead for the newly established environmental water quality team. You will develop, manage, and train the team, and deliver robust quantitative modelling outputs to support projects.

You will support UK, Ireland, and US projects, mentor junior staff, and strengthen client relationships while driving innovation in data management and model development. The role requires a degree in engineering or science, postgraduate qualifications, chartered

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in engineering or science, with postgraduate qualifications preferred and chartered membership.
• At least 10 years in the water/environmental sector, with UK/Ireland exposure ideal.
• Strong numerical water quality modelling experience and ability to assess IFS or percentile standards.

Job description

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the development, management, and training of the newly established environmental water quality team in Pune.
• Support ongoing projects in the UK, Ireland, and US related to environmental water quality modelling and analysis.
• Deliver robust, technically sound quantitative modelling outputs to support wider project delivery objectives.
• Provide timely technical expertise to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring delivery within strict deadlines.
• Contribute to innovation and efficiency initiatives focused on data management, model development, calibration, and execution.
• Strengthen client relationships and support the continuous expansion of water and environmental services across the UK, Ireland, and US markets.
• Mentor junior team members and foster collaboration across related technical disciplines.

Person Specifications

• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, preferably with postgraduate qualifications and chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the water/environmental sector, ideally with exposure to the UK and/or Ireland water industry.
• Strong technical expertise in numerical water quality modelling, including experience assessing impacts using intermittent frequency standards (IFS) or percentile-based standards.
• Experience with industry-standard modelling tools such as MIKE, DELFT, SAGIS, SIMCAT, and RQP.
• Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience in a technical lead or team leadership role, managing delivery, quality assurance, and client expectations.
• Ability to act as the primary point of contact for clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
