Primary Purpose of Job: Stantec are looking to build a new environmental water quality team to support an exciting array of UK and global projects. In order to do this, we are looking for an experienced water quality specialist, leader and communicator who we can support, develop and build a growing team around.
Stantec’s role will involve working with Stantec’s global business to support the development of a specialist environment water quality hub in India. This will initially be supported by UK, Ireland and US work as the team expands and grows to support Stantec’s global needs.
Within the UK and Ireland Stantec is working in partnership with water companies, and with a wider stakeholder community, to develop effective solutions to model and manage the impact of continuous and intermittent wastewater discharges to the environment. The challenges imposed by the new and changing tighter environmental legislation is considerable, especially when set against the associated impacts of a changing climate.
These challenges require a multi‑disciplinary response and so the role will involve working with skilled and specialist colleagues to first understand and quantify the nature of the problem and risk, through to the development of models and mitigation options. It will include analysis of physico‑chemical, biological, ecological and chemical impacts of intermittent and continuous discharges into riverine, lacustrine, estuarine and coastal environments. It will need to consider the wider context of water quality within environmental systems, integrating with urban and natural catchment experts to help clients and communities develop solutions and deliver environmental performance sustainably and efficiently.
