Skillventory in India seeks an experienced EHS professional to lead safety and environmental initiatives on a manufacturing site. The role focuses on safety observations, training, and equipment maintenance to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 2–6 years in EHS, strong ISO knowledge, and hands-on experience with SAP, SHG systems, and environmental reporting. An onsite plant location is expected with collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of relevant EHS experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience with SAP for EHS data management and waste tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular plant safety observations and inspections to identify unsafe conditions and initiate corrective measures.
  • Organize and conduct safety training programs to enhance safety awareness and competency of staff and contract workers.
  • Ensure operation and maintenance of fire protection equipment including hydrants, extinguishers, detectors, and alarms.
  • Maintain compliance with IMS standards ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and update related documents and records.
  • Assist in incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support environmental management activities including STP, ETP, and RO plants and regulatory compliance.
  • Handle Online XGN Manifest System and ensure timely environmental reporting.
  • Coordinate with departments for hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA), and control measures.
  • Conduct mock drills, safety audits, and emergency preparedness activities as scheduled.
  • Support sustainability and continuous improvement within EHS performance areas.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety culture, risk management, and operational excellence across EHS functions.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Conduct regular plant safety observations and safety inspections to identify unsafe conditions and practices and initiate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Organize and conduct safety training programs to enhance safety awareness and competency of shop floor employees and contract workmen.
  • Ensure effective operation, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection and safety equipment, including hydrant systems, extinguishers, detectors, and alarms.
  • Maintain compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, and ensure timely updates of related documents, records, and procedures.
  • Assist in incident and accident investigations, identify root causes, and evaluate corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Support environmental management activities, including monitoring and operation of STP, ETP, and RO plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Handle and update the Online XGN Manifest System and ensure timely submission of environmental returns and compliance reports.
  • Utilize SAP for EHS data management, waste tracking, and audit observations, ensuring accuracy and traceability of information.
  • Coordinate with various departments for hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA), and implementation of appropriate control measures.
  • Ensure periodic mock drills, safety audits, and emergency preparedness activities are conducted as per schedule.
  • Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives within EHS performance areas.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety culture, risk management, and operational excellence across EHS functions.

Preferred candidate profile
  • 2-6 years of relevant experience in EHS functions within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry, preferably at a plant location.
  • Strong understanding of EHS management systems, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Good knowledge of environmental systems such as STP, ETP, RO, and waste management practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP for EHS data management, waste tracking, and audit observations.
  • Experience in plant safety inspections, hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA), and implementation of control measures.
  • Exposure to incident and accident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Knowledge of fire protection and safety equipment including hydrants, extinguishers, detectors, and alarms.
  • Experience in conducting safety training, mock drills, safety audits, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Exposure to Online XGN Manifest System and environmental compliance reporting.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, training, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in local languages and English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong learning agility, proactive approach, and continuous improvement mindset.
