Job summary

MTC Business in Maharashtra invites an Environmental Engineer to join our Steel Manufacturing plant. You will drive environmental compliance, pollution control, and waste management, ensuring sustainable plant operations.

You will oversee statutory reporting, monitor air and water systems, manage hazardous waste, and coordinate with MPCB and labs. The role reports to EHS Head/Plant Head and requires hands-on implementation of safety and environmental procedures.

Responsibilities

• Statutory Compliance – Ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, MPCB consent conditions, environmental clearances and statutory reporting requirements.
• Air Pollution Control – Monitor air emissions, dust, particulate matter and operation of pollution-control equipment such as bag filters, scrubbers and dust extraction systems.
• Water and Wastewater Management – Monitor water consumption, ETP, STP, wastewater quality and lawful discharge or reuse.
• Solid Waste Management – Identify, segregate, store and arrange authorised disposal or recycling of slag, dust, sludge, scrap and other industrial waste.
• Hazardous Waste Management – Maintain waste inventories, manifests, storage records and returns; coordinate with authorised recyclers and disposal facilities.
• Environmental Monitoring – Coordinate ambient air, stack emission, wastewater, groundwater, noise and other monitoring as applicable.
• Documentation and Reporting – Maintain environmental registers, monitoring reports, waste records, consent documents and periodic statutory returns.
• Environmental Audits – Conduct internal inspections, identify non-compliances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Resource Conservation – Promote water conservation, energy efficiency, material recovery, recycling and reduction of environmental impacts.
• Emergency Management – Support response to chemical spills, wastewater leaks, dust-control failures and other environmental incidents.
• Training and Awareness – Train employees and contractors on waste segregation, pollution prevention, spill response and environmental procedures.
• Coordination with Authorities – Coordinate with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), authorised laboratories, waste handlers and other relevant agencies.
