Job summary

PayPay India is seeking an Engineering Manager with a Java background to lead the payment product team. You will guide architecture, deliver reliable systems, and ensure fast, secure payment experiences for customers.

You will mentor engineers, manage workloads, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive hiring to scale the team in a dynamic, high-energy environment.

Qualifications

• 9–14 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• 2+ years of team management experience.
• Proven record designing, developing and supporting scalable web/mobile apps.
• Experience in technical management or leadership roles.
• Strong systems design thinking and fast-paced execution mindset.
• Fluency in English; Japanese proficiency is a plus.

• Lead the team in its daily tasks, prioritize them, and make decisions based on changing business priorities.
• Structure and facilitate the team’s workflow and development process.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders across the company to understand their requirements and translate them into the team's technical requirements.
• Fosters the team’s evolution and it’s member’s growth, including, but not limited to, 1:1s and performance evaluation.
• Plan for future resources requirements and collaborate with the hiring effort

Qualifications

• 9-14 years of hands-on experience for backend development
• 2+ years of experience for team management.
• Track record of designing, developing and supporting highly scalable, responsive web / mobile applications.
• Professional experience in a technical management or leadership role.
• Have a technical mindset and understand complex systems design.
• Have an extreme bias towards action. Basically, have the \"Get Things Done\" type of attitude.
