Job summary

Harness in Bangalore seeks an experienced engineering leader to head the data API team within SEI. You will drive architecture for scalable microservices, recruit and mentor engineers, and partner with Product Management to align technical decisions with customer outcomes.

You will coach teams to build resilient, cost-efficient services, lead design and code reviews, and collaborate with global engineering leaders to drive roadmap and deliverables in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in the software industry.
• 2+ years of people-management experience, leading engineers.
• Deep understanding of web and cloud services architecture.
• Experience in data ingestion, processing, and scalable data platforms.

Position Summary Harness Software Engineering Insights helps engineering leaders unlock metrics and insights to understand bottlenecks in their SDLC and drive efficiencies. It connects to 40+ SDLC tools, correlates data from those tools to surface insights and metrics, and offers a widget to present insights on bottlenecks. This role leads a high‑growth team at a high‑growth company.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the data API team that connects with various SDLC sources, bringing in data and serving end‑user‑facing analytics within SEI
• Recruit, grow, and retain top talent
• Lead design reviews and participate in code reviews
• Coach and mentor the team in building resilient, scalable, and cost‑effective services
• Partner with Product Management to influence product strategy and roadmap. Be the voice of the customer and product within the team and enable the team to make the right technical decisions with clear outcomes for the product and customer in mind
• Participate in implementation and lead by example
• Partner with other engineering leaders across geographies, communicating clearly and proactively

About You

Experience:

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in the software industry. Demonstrated experience building high‑scalable, resilient microservices
• 2+ years of people‑management experience, leading engineers

Technical Expertise:

• Deep understanding of the processes and architecture of web and cloud services
• Solid experience in data ingestion, processing, performance, and scalability in large‑scale data platforms
• Strong technical foundation in coding, scaling, testing, and operating services, with the ability to contribute effectively to technical discussions

Leadership Skills:

• Passionate about mentoring and helping engineers grow professionally
• Excellent communication skills, synthesizing and explaining complex problems to diverse audiences
• Proven track record of successful collaboration with teams, peers, and leadership

Work Location

• Bangalore. Candidate expected to be in Bangalore office 3x/week
