Job summary

Persistent seeks an experienced Engineering Architect to lead GenAI, FastAPI and Python based design for enterprise AI platforms. The role focuses on building scalable microservices, RAG frameworks, and agentic AI with robust security, governance, and cloud-native principles.

You will work across AWS/Azure/GCP, implement CI/CD pipelines, containerize with Docker/Kubernetes, and mentor teams while aligning AI roadmaps with product leadership.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Architect to lead the design and development of enterprise-scale Generative AI platforms, Agentic AI frameworks, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Python, FastAPI, Large Language Models (LLMs), cloud-native architectures, and AI engineering best practices.

What You'll Do:

• Architect and develop scalable Python and FastAPI-based microservices supporting AI, RAG, and GenAI workloads.
• Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks for enterprise AI applications.
• Define ingestion, chunking, embedding, indexing, retrieval, reranking, and grounding strategies for AI systems.
• Build Agentic AI frameworks incorporating tool-calling, autonomous workflows, guardrails, and policy enforcement mechanisms.
• Design reusable AI accelerators, SDKs, frameworks, libraries, and development templates.
• Architect and optimize Vector Database solutions using pgvector, Qdrant, Pinecone, OpenSearch, or Elasticsearch.
• Evaluate and integrate Large Language Models and foundation models based on business requirements, performance, governance, and cost considerations.
• Implement enterprise-grade security, authentication, authorization, governance, and compliance standards across AI platforms.
• Design cloud-native AI architectures leveraging AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform services.
• Develop robust CI/CD pipelines for AI applications and microservices deployments.
• Implement containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build monitoring, observability, telemetry, logging, and operational support capabilities using OpenTelemetry and modern observability platforms.
• Drive performance tuning, scalability improvements, and optimization of AI systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and Enterprise Architects to define AI roadmaps and solution strategies.
• Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, and technical mentoring initiatives.
• Support AI platform adoption and promote engineering best practices across teams.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 12 to 16 years of experience in Software Engineering, Solution Architecture, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Architecture.
• Strong expertise in Python development and enterprise application design.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Proven experience designing and deploying Generative AI and LLM-powered applications.
• Experience building Agentic AI frameworks and autonomous AI workflows.
• Deep understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and implementation patterns.
• Experience with embeddings, semantic search, vector retrieval, reranking, and contextual grounding techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Vector Databases such as pgvector, Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate, OpenSearch / Elasticsearch.
• Experience integrating and deploying Large Language Models through Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face Models, Open-source LLMs.
• Expertise in cloud-native architecture across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration, and distributed systems.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, data protection, and AI governance principles.
• Knowledge of performance optimization, caching strategies, scalability, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience designing reusable frameworks and enterprise architecture patterns.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership capabilities.
