Job summary

ICE is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize Linux infrastructure across development, nonproduction, and production environments. The role emphasizes automation, fault tolerance, and low latency, with collaboration across developers and operations to support ICE Exchange platforms globally.

You will work on implementing scalable, secure systems, tuning performance, and participating in 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Linux operating systems (RedHat variants preferred).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, GoLang, etc.
• Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with git, foreman, Jenkins, or equivalent tooling.
• Demonstrable knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application design.
• Working knowledge of horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability.
• Ability to specify hardware requirements and make recommendations based on application needs.
• Demonstrable experience leveraging AI tooling to improve work quality and efficiency.
• Thorough understanding of core system security & hardening concepts and processes.
• Top-tier analytics and problem solving.
• Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment.
• Excellent project management, organization, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, planning and implementation of server solutions, ensuring maximum performance and reliability.
• Automate manual tasks using scripting and application development.
• Investigate and adopt new technologies & tools as needs arise.
• Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle priorities effectively.
• Ensure meticulous attention to detail and maintain excellent organizational skills.
• Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches.
• Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions.
• Coordinate and execute internal infrastructure initiatives including patching, refreshes, upgrades, and decommissions.
• Provide support to, and coordinate with, developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals and maintain system integrity.
• Take part in periodic, scheduled weekend assignments to support essential project deliveries.
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing highly available, high performance Linux systems across development, nonproduction, and production environments. Working within a results driven service delivery team, this role partners closely with developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to support core ICE Exchange platforms globally. Responsibilities include infrastructure design, platform automation, root cause analysis, and active participation in technical discussions, with a strong focus on system tuning, fault tolerance, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices for low latency, high performance workloads.

Desired Knowledge And Experience

• Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering
• 1+ years’ experience building and supporting Windows server infrastructure
• Experience building and supporting bare-metal enterprise servers such as HPE, DELL, IBM, etc.
• Experience with server virtualization technologies (VMWare, Proxmox, etc.)
• Familiarity and experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Tanzu, etc.)
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and configuration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, InfiniBand, etc.)
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining low-latency computing ecosystems
