Job summary

Rotex seeks an Engineer / Senior Engineer – Mechanical Design in Vadodara, Gujarat. You will design and validate mechanical assemblies, using Solidworks CAD and Simulation, while aligning with DFSS and DFMEA methodologies.

Interaction with SAP, PDM and ERP systems is required to manage BOMs, drawings and documentation. The role focuses on form/fit/function for manufacturing, reliability, cost, and compliance with ISO/AS QMS standards.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Solidworks CAD and Solidworks Simulation.
• Experience with SAP, PDM, and ERP systems is essential.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA and DFSS.
• Experience in CAE (CFD, vibration, fatigue) and concept testing.

Job Description:

Understand basic function & configuration rules of all our SOV, Coil and Valve products. Knowledge of designing injection moulded, die casting, sheet metal, painting parts. Correct/Modify Configuration Rules, Static & Production BOMs in SAP under supervision. Search/Create mfg. drawings in PDM, item codes and BOM in ERP etc.

Product Design & Configuration

• Understand basic function & configuration rules of all SOV, Coil and Valve products.
• Perform product design tasks like concept design, detailed design, modelling/drafting using Solidworks CAD, calculations, basic structural FEA using Solidworks Simulation, tolerance stack-up analysis, apply GD&T, prepare DFMEA, prepare Item Codes, BOM etc independently.
• Design products for Form/Fit/Function, Mfg., Assembly, Reliability/Life, Cost, Service, EHS, etc. using DFSS tools with minim supervision.
• Understand various mfg. processes and the tolerances, surface roughness/finishes that could be achieved using those processes and create mfg. drawings based on it independently.

System & Documentation Management

• Correct/Modify Configuration Rules, Static & Production BOMs in SAP under supervision.
• Search/Create mfg. drawings in PDM, item codes and BOM in ERP etc.
• Prepare design documents required for various product certification independently.
• Maintain project folder as per applicable QMS system – ISO/AS and face internal and external audits with minimum supervision.
• Prepare & Submit GAD,DS to customer & get approval.

Analysis & Verification

• Perform benchmarking/Reverse Eng., VA/VE activities of products independently.
• Co-ordinate design verification thru CAE (CFD, Vibration, Fatigue etc.) and/or concept testing.
• Conduct design reviews (DFx) of new parts/products with cross-functional team or suppliers and optimize the design based on their feedback independently.

Customer & Project Coordination

• Interface with customers for product requirements gathering, prepare requirements compliance report (TFSO), fill product specification sheet.
• Be the SPOC for all design activities of NPD/NCP products and provide status updates/clarifications to PM/HOD/CFT members on regular basis.
• Write test procedures, co-ordinate product assembly and testing activities, as required with minimum supervision.

Problem Solving & Improvement

• Resolve supplier / production / design validation / customer problems using 8D process (RCA and CAPA) and implement design changes thru ECRN process with minimum supervision.
• RFT /Productivity improvement, cost reduction projects through PMS.
• Perform task assign in Various FMS/PMS.

Training & Development

• Train GETs on product design and development activities.
• Learn about solenoid coil design, electronics used and trouble shooting from SMEs.
