Job summary

Ramboll in India is seeking a motivated Engineer – Roads & Highway Design to support the UK Team in highway design from feasibility to detailed design. You will work with colleagues in India and the UK, applying Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, or MicroStation to deliver compliant solutions.

Join Ramboll’s transport division to grow technically in a multidisciplinary environment, with opportunities for development, exposure to major projects, and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in highway or roadway design projects.
  • Proficiency in highway design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, or MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards (IRC, MoRTH, DMRB, AASHTO).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a high-performing design team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and development of highway and roadway designs, including geometric design, cross-sections, and junction layouts.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, design reports, and support documentation under the guidance of senior and principal engineers.
  • Support the development of design deliverables such as plans, profiles, typical sections, and quantity estimates.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant standards, guidelines, and project requirements (DMRB, IRC, MoRTH, AASHTO).
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (structures, drainage, environment, etc.) to ensure coordinated and integrated design solutions.
  • Use design software tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design activities.
  • Assist in quality checks and reviews to maintain accuracy and consistency in project deliverables.
  • Support in preparing technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and client reviews.
  • Stay updated with the latest design practices, tools, and standards relevant to highway engineering.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer – Roads & Highway Design to support the UK Team in design and delivery of highway and roadway projects across various stages—from feasibility studies to detailed design. The ideal candidate will work closely with counterparts in India & UK to develop design solutions, using Civil 3D, and ensure compliance with relevant design standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow technical and professional skills within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
