Job summary

Somaiya Vidyavihar in Mumbai seeks an experienced Procurement & Purchase professional to manage civil materials and services end-to-end. You will handle enquiries, quotations, and vendor negotiations to ensure timely supply of resources for site needs.

The role requires strong knowledge of BOQs, drawings, and cost estimation, with ERP familiarity to maintain records and MIS reports. This is a on-site position at Mumbai campuses.

Qualifications

• B.E. in Civil Engineering with 5+ years site + procurement exposure.
• Strong understanding of BOQ, drawings, and material specifications.
• Experience in vendor negotiation and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end procurement of civil materials and services.
• Float enquiries, obtain quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
• Negotiate rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Finalize vendors and issue purchase orders/contracts.
• Study and interpret civil drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
• Track project costs vs budget and identify savings.
• Coordinate with site/project team for material requirements.
• Maintain purchase records and generate MIS reports.

Job Description

Procurement & Purchase

Handle end-to-end procurement of civil materials and civil services.

• Float enquiries, obtain quotations, and prepare comparative statements
• Negotiate rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules and other contractual terms
• Finalize vendors and issue purchase orders as well as purchase contracts

Technical Understanding (Core Requirement)

• Study and interpret civil drawings, BOQs, and specifications
• Verify BOQ's from drawings
• rate analysis and cost estimation
• Identify overdesign / excess quantities and suggest optimization
• Develop and maintain a strong vendor base
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely dispatch and issue resolution
• Handling vendor grievances and payment

Cost Control & Analysis

• Track project costs vs budget
• Identify cost-saving opportunities
• Maintain price database for key materials and services

Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate with site/project team for material/services requirements
• Ensure timely availability of materials at site

Documentation & MIS

• Maintain purchase records, comparative statements, and approvals
• Generate MIS reports (cost, savings, vendor performance)
