Job description

As a Product Design Engineer, you will work on the design and development of plastic and sheet metal components, contributing to product maintenance, SPO projects, and new product development.

Responsibilities

• Drive development of new and legacy signal products, collaborating closely with supervisors on design modifications and innovations.
• Champion the Product Development Process (PDP) by coordinating seamlessly with cross‑functional teams including product management, engineering, manufacturing, and applications.
• Translate customer needs and Voice of Customer (VOC) insights into actionable design and product goals.
• Lead and actively participate in critical reviews such as conceptual, DFM, DFMEA/PFMEA, design, and phase gate reviews to ensure product excellence.
• Create precise models, detailed drawings, clear product specifications, and comprehensive test documentation for robust product validation.
• Manage design change processes efficiently, including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), while liaising with global manufacturing plants on quality and inspection outcomes.
• Utilize advanced CAD tools (NX/ECTR), SAP for engineering changes, and presentation/analytics tools to support design and decision‑making.
• Plan and prioritize tasks proactively, aligning personal and team goals with broader organizational objectives.
• Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and productivity enhancement across projects.
• Conduct in‑depth signal integrity and thermal performance analyses, while actively contributing innovative ideas to drive product advancement.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E.) with 3+ years of relevant experience in product development.
• Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter software tools.
• Knowledge of connector design, development, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as Hypermesh or Ansys is advantageous.
• Understanding of product development methodologies and ability to interpret technical specifications.
• Basic knowledge of SAP, ERP, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in designing electro‑mechanical products such as connectors or switches.
• Familiarity with signal‑integrity principles to ensure reliable electrical performance.
• Understanding of thermal‑performance analysis for effective heat management in product design.
