Job summary

Jobtailor in Bengaluru seeks a senior mechanical design engineer to lead electromechanical product development from concept to production release. You will own technical deliverables, ensure engineering quality, and guide cross-functional teams through demanding programs.

The role focuses on robust mechanical packaging for harsh aerospace environments, CAD modeling, DFMEA/PFMEA, and NPD leadership. Strong Creo and Teamcenter skills are required to drive successful launches.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
  • Proven experience leading New Product Development programs.
  • Experience with electromechanical product design and mechanical packaging.
  • Aerospace product development experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Creo Parametric (Pro/ENGINEER).
  • Experience with Teamcenter or equivalent PLM/PDM systems.
  • Experience designing machined, plastic, sheet metal, and cast components.
  • Mechanical packaging for rugged environments.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, coatings, and environmental protection.
  • Proficient in GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, DFM, DFA.
  • Hands-on DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to predict and mitigate risks throughout lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication with customers, suppliers, and global teams.

  • Drive product architecture, design decisions, and technical problem solving while balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Develop expertise in the product line and proactively identify product improvement, cost reduction, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Design robust mechanical packaging solutions for products operating in harsh Aerospace environments.
  • Perform concept generation, trade studies, detailed design, tolerance analysis, and technical risk assessments.
  • Drive DFMEA activities and develop mitigation plans for identified design risks.
  • Work with simulation, validation, quality, sourcing, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Lead product failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Create and review CAD models, engineering drawings, technical reports, test plans, and project documentation.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) through product lifecycle management processes.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, design guidelines, and quality requirements.
