Job summary

GE HealthCare Bengaluru is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop high-frequency HV generators for X-ray applications. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to create electrical designs for X-ray generators and power distribution units, and perform analyses, simulations, and validations to deliver robust power electronics solutions.

You will lead design enhancements, manage engineering changes, and drive value engineering while aligning with GE HealthCare

Qualifications

  • ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on circuit design for power electronics applications (AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters).
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as PLECS or PSpice.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

Power Electronics Engineer is primarily responsible for the design and development of electronic hardware for High Frequency High Voltage Generators used in X‑ray generation applications, with a constant focus on quality, reliability, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement. This position is part of the Electrical/Power Electronics Design & Development Engineering team within X‑Ray Generation Engineering at GE HealthCare. The selected candidate will report to the XGEN Electrical Engineering Manager at GEBEL, Bengaluru.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Design and develop High Frequency High Voltage Generators used in X‑ray generation applications.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to develop electrical designs for X‑ray Generators and Power Distribution Units.
  • Understand product requirements and perform analysis, calculations, simulations, and design evaluations for power electronics solutions.
  • Independently develop and deliver electrical designs, while leading design enhancements, engineering changes, and value engineering initiatives for X‑ray generators.
  • Own assigned projects and work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver program milestones while complying with the GE HealthCare Quality Management System.
  • Support system integration, verification, testing, validation, and design transfer activities for new products and engineering changes.
  • Contribute to Advanced Technology Development, New Product Introduction (NPI), Design Transfer, Design Improvements, Value Engineering, and Reliability projects.
  • Execute assignments aligned with business priorities while collaborating effectively across cross‑functional teams.
Basic Qualifications
  • ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands‑on experience in circuit design for power electronics applications, including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, power supplies, and inverters.
  • Experience with circuit simulation using PLECS, PSpice, or equivalent simulation tools.
  • Experience in verification and validation of circuits and products, including functional, performance, thermal, and EMC testing.
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong understanding of power converter topologies, including Buck, Boost, Buck‑Boost, Flyback, Forward, resonant converters/inverters, high‑voltage multiplier/voltage doubler circuits, and analog power amplifiers.
  • Knowledge of Static Compensators and Active Filters is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of small‑signal and large‑signal analysis for AC/DC and DC/AC converters, including Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuits.
  • Strong fundamentals of EMI/EMC and filter design.
  • Working knowledge of electronics design and simulation tools such as Saber, MATLAB, PSpice, OrCAD, and Cadence.
  • Knowledge of power converter control techniques, including Bode plot and Nyquist plot analysis.
  • Experience with analog and digital controllers, DSPs, embedded systems, mixed‑signal PCB design, and fault debugging is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of PWA design principles and component selection guidelines is an added advantage.
