Job summary

ATHARVA FOUNDRIES PVT. LTD. is seeking a motivated Lab Engineer to join the Quality Assurance and Metallurgy team, ensuring material quality and process control across the foundry.

You will perform chemical composition tests, mechanical property testing, and microstructure analysis on SG iron products, while maintaining calibration and SOPs to support quality audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or Foundry Technology (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.); Diploma in Metallurgy with experience may be considered.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a chemical or metallurgical laboratory in CI/SG/Steel foundry environments.
  • Strong knowledge of foundry processes, especially SG iron production and related metallurgical traits.
  • Proficiency in handling lab testing equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills for reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine chemical composition tests on raw materials and molten metal using spectrometers or other analytical equipment.
  • Perform physical and mechanical property testing including tensile strength, hardness, and impact testing on finished castings.
  • Prepare and analyze microstructures of iron samples to confirm graphite nodule formation and SG iron standards compliance.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab testing registers, equipment and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with production to address quality issues, analyze rejections, and implement corrective actions using 8D or Fishbone diagrams.
  • Ensure consistent sand properties through systematic testing and control measures.
  • Document test results, prepare quality reports, and support ISO 9001 quality audits.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Lab Engineer to join our Quality Assurance and Metallurgy team to ensure the highest standards of material quality and process control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting routine chemical composition tests on raw materials and molten metal using spectrometers or other analytical equipment.
  • Performing physical and mechanical property testing, including tensile strength, hardness, and impact testing, on finished castings.
  • Preparing and analyzing microstructures of iron samples to confirm proper graphite nodule formation and ensure compliance with SG iron standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO).
  • Maintaining and calibrating lab testing registers, equipment, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborating with the production team to address quality issues, analyze casting rejections, and implement corrective actions using problem-solving methods like 8D or Fishbone diagrams.
  • Ensuring consistent sand properties through systematic testing and control measures.
  • Documenting all test results, preparing quality reports, and supporting internal quality audits (ISO 9001 knowledge is a plus).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.) in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Foundry Technology. A Diploma in Metallurgy with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Experience: 1 To 2 years of proven experience working in a chemical or metallurgical laboratory within a CI/SG/Steel foundry environment.
  • Strong knowledge of foundry processes, especially SG iron production and related metallurgical traits.
  • Proficiency in handling lab testing equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills for reports and documentation.
