Job summary

Guardian Life Insurance in Chennai is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive design and delivery of scalable enterprise applications. You will lead hands-on development using Java and Python, build microservices with Spring Boot, and champion cloud-native architectures.

You will mentor teams, shape technical direction with Architects and Product Owners, implement CI/CD, and promote AI-assisted development and robust testing. Prior experience in insurance domain is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/IT or related field (B.E./B.Tech. or MCA).
• 6–8 years of software development experience.
• Strong OO design, patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Insurance domain knowledge helpful.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
• Develop microservices-based solutions using Spring Boot, Java, and Python.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and enterprise integration solutions.
• Drive technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Identify and resolve technical risks, production issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of React.js, JavaScript, Node.js.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, and engineering best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor developers to improve technical capability.

• Support Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and release management.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Python, Microservices, Cloud Technologies, AI, and API Development to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can drive engineering excellence, mentor development teams, and collaborate with business and architecture stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing applications using Java and Python.
• Develop microservices-based solutions using Spring Boot, Spring Core (IoC, Transactions, Webservices), Multithreading, Hibernate (JPA), Microsoft SQL (Or other DB like Oracle, Mysql) and cloud-native technologies.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and enterprise integration solutions.
• Drive technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Identify and resolve technical risks, production issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Troubleshooting skills to investigate, diagnose, and resolve production incidents efficiently, ensuring adherence to SLA commitments and minimizing business impact through timely root cause identification and resolution.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders to define and deliver technical solutions.
• Working knowledge of React.js, JavaScript, Node.js
