Job summary

Jacobs in Mumbai seeks an Electrical Engineer specialized in ETAP studies to lead and mentor the team. You will perform Load Flow, Short Circuit, and Harmonics analyses, coordinate across disciplines, and ensure reports meet industry standards. Strong knowledge of IS/IEC/NBC is required and Navisworks experience is a plus. On-site role based in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience.
• Knowledge of electrical codes & standards (IS / IEC / NBC) is mandatory.
• Experience with 3D engineering, review of 3D models using Navisworks.
• Competent user of MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Engineer to deliver system-study deliverables.
• Mentor and train team members to ensure high-quality system-study reports.
• Coordinate with intra- and inter-disciplinary teams on project studies.
• Update and maintain the Electrical Discipline Database for system studies.
• Model and conduct ETAP studies for utility grids, transmission, distribution, and loads.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, BIS, CEAR/CEIG standards.

Job Overview

This position focuses on leading electrical system studies, utilizing ETAP and related software, to support various projects from utility grids to captive generation.

Responsibilities

• Expert in ETAP system study modules: Load Flow, Short Circuit study, Motor Starting analysis, Harmonics study, Arc-Flash study, Relay settings, Reliability study, and Transient Study.
• Knowledge of other system study software (SKM, DIgSILENT, EasyPower, MATLAB, PSCAD) is an advantage.
• Support Lead Engineer to deliver all system‑study related deliverables.
• Assist Department/Discipline Head with system studies for various projects.
• Exhibit technical domain knowledge and share it with team members.
• Mentor, train and encourage resources to achieve quality in system‑study reports.
• Coordinate with other team members intra‑disciplinary and interdisciplinary.
• Upgrade Electrical Discipline Database on system studies.
• Model and conduct ETAP studies of electric power from Utility Grid, transmission and distribution to loads.
• Perform ETAP Load Flow study for various electrical operation scenarios.
• Conduct Short Circuit study in ETAP based on IEC 60909.
• Perform Motor Starting study in ETAP – Static & Dynamic.
• Conduct ETAP Arc Flash study per IEEE 1584 for up to 15 kV and above.
• Execute Harmonic study in ETAP to IEEE 519 standard.
• Carry out ETAP Relay coordination per IEEE 252 and produce Relay setting Report.
• Perform Power Reliability study based on IEEE 493.
• Select voltage level based on load & motor KW ratings; determine switchboard short‑circuit levels.
• Improve Power Factor and ensure EMC compliance.
• Ensure compliance with Codes and standards, statutory guidelines (NBC/BIS/CEAR/CEIG).
• Apply ETAP system‑study results during GIS, HV & LV switchboard document review.
• Proactively identify and resolve existing system deficiencies such as high short‑circuit, harmonics.
