Role: Senior Engineer – Power System Consulting
The position is based in Mumbai and may involve travel within and outside India.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute power system studies, electromagnetic switching transient studies, and EMI/EMC studies using ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or equivalent software.
- Perform load flow, short‑circuit, motor starting, transient stability, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, and renewable energy system studies.
- Conduct insulation coordination, lightning surge impact, and GIS switching analyses for electromagnetic transient studies.
- Address interference issues in complex electrical environments such as oil & gas plants and railways.
- Provide engineering recommendations for design, operation, and optimization of electrical systems, ensuring alignment with IEC/IEEE standards and client requirements.
- Review electrical distribution networks, industrial control systems, and renewable energy installations for compliance with international standards.
- Manage project scope, deliverables, budgets, and timelines to meet agreed‑upon targets.
- Troubleshoot system tripping, site incidents, and equipment failures; offer technical support for resolution.
- Respond to client technical queries, prepare and deliver professional reports, presentations, and workshops.
- Mentor junior team members and oversee technical performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in power system study projects, preferably in a consulting environment; Middle East project experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and product operation.
- Hands‑on experience in power system studies (load flow, short circuit, motor start, transient stability, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, reliability).
- Experience with electromagnetic switching transient studies (insulation coordination) and EMI/EMC studies.
- Familiarity with renewable energy source studies (solar/wind) including FACT devices (SVC, STATCOM, active filters) and grid‑connected battery storage systems.
- Proficiency with ETAP/PSCAD/CDEGS/PSSE or equivalent software for power system analysis.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint for reports and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Python or MATLAB coding; experience in designing and implementing renewable energy systems.
