Qualifications

The Opportunity

In this role you will be the design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost‑effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

• You will understand and design Electrical Power Systems and controls, preferably with knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards.
• To succeed in this position, you need to be thorough and structured, with a high technical interest and a drive to deliver good solutions within set time limits. You will be involved in projects, tenders, and base work.
• To grow with each task, enabling yourself to develop and take more responsibility. HVDC is a complex product, always more to learn.
• You will model and study the stability of HVDC systems through simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, Power Factory and design the controllers.
• You will handle the interface with other departments, ensuring you understand their needs, they understand yours, and work toward a good corporate outcome.
• You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• You should have a B.E. in EEE (>5 years experience) or Master of Engineering in Power Systems (3 to 18 years experience) or Ph.D. in Power Systems (1 to 5 years experience).
• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems studies and modelling of electrical network /HVDC/FACT.
• Preferably understanding of Power Electronics application in HV/EHV systems such as HVDC and FACTS, with proven skills in using computers as a calculation tool.
• Preferably experience with power system simulation tools such as PSSE, EMTDC/PSCAD, Power Factory and calculations in Matlab / Mathcad.
• Extensive knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose, such as Power Transformers, Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformers and measuring equipment, Circuit Breakers, Disconnectors, Surge Arresters, etc.
• Knowledge in selection, sizing and integration of the above equipment based on customer functional specifications, and knowledge of power systems as per job description.
• Power Transmission Projects (EPC) experience, teamwork, analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, fluency in English.
