Job summary

Knorr-Bremse AG in Pune, India seeks a design engineer to coordinate cross-functional teams and develop components for wheel-end systems. You will create 3D models, 2D drawings, and release packages using IPEM, and prepare CAD models for FEA/CFD analyses.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, technicians, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to support existing product lines.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D assembly drawings; release drawings using IPEM.
  • Prepare CAD models for FEA and CFD; correlate results with physical tests and prepare detailed analysis reports.
  • Define and implement cost-saving projects; develop product concepts from proposals.
  • Develop BOMs for assemblies; design components using diverse manufacturing processes.
  • Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analysis; ensure compliance with ANSI/ASME/ISO standards.
  • Mentor and review work of other design engineers; participate in reviewing DFMEA, DVP&R and related documents.

Job description

This position will coordinate work with engineers, other designers, technicians, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers in the support of existing product lines for the Wheel End.
Generate 3D models of components using Pro-E Creo software, generate 2D assembly drawings and release drawing package using IPEM (Integrated Pro-E Management). IPEM is the software link between Pro-E and Teamcenter.Prepare CAD models for FEA and CFD analysis and work with in-house expert to complete analysis. Correlate analysis results with physical prototype tests. Prepare detailed analysis reports.Define and implement cost savings projects.Participate in creating product concepts from proposals.Design and detail components fabricated from a variety of manufacturing processes including iron casting, steel stamping, molded plastic, machined parts etc Integrate Design for Manufacturing into components and assemblies.Develop Bill of Materials for assemblies.Apply GD&T techniques and perform tolerance stack up analysis.Perform design calculations.Apply all industry best practices and ANSI, ASME and ISO standards.Coordinates major project design efforts and work with vendors, customers, and development functions as a significant part of the Engineering team.Gain Wheel End product knowledge.Work with cross-functional teams to achieve design targets.Assist with problem solving analysis.Participate in reviewing DFMEA, DVP&R and other related engineering documents.Mentor and check work of other Design Engineers.Provide input to improve engineering processes.
Knowledge of vehicle braking systems preferred.Knowledge of ISO/QS9000 Total Quality processes a plus.
Skills: Proficiency with advanced computer aided design (CAD) modelling skills (i.e. surfacing, sheet metal). Pro-E Creo experience preferred.Ability to learn and effectively use TeamCenter. Experience using PLM system (TeamCenter or other) a plus.Proficiency in; GD&T tolerance stack up analysis, Design for Manufacturing, generating design calculations, using ANSI, ASME and ISO standards and developing Bill of Materials for assemblies.Willingness to achieve GD&T certification.Design experience with braking systems for automotive or commercial vehicle systems strongly desired.Must have strong verbal and written communication style and skillsCapable to work in a team environment.Proficiency in designing components and assemblies fabricated from iron castings, molded plastics, stamped steel and machined metallic components.Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Demonstrated self-starter and motivator of others.Capable of learning a lot quickly.
