Job summary

Einnel Technologies in Chennai is seeking a Design Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in SolidWorks to design automotive components and assemblies.

You will develop 3D models, detailed drawings, GD&T, and collaborate with CAE, manufacturing, and program teams to deliver production-ready designs. EV domain exposure is preferred but not mandatory, and candidates from broader automotive backgrounds are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Solid proficiency in SolidWorks for solid modelling, assemblies, and production drawings.
  • Solid fundamentals in mechanical engineering – stress, strain, load paths, and stiffness.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive component or sub-system design.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal design, plastics, and machined components.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes – stamping, casting, machining, and joining techniques.
  • Exposure to EV components, battery packaging, or BIW / underbody / upper body design is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA or Siemens NX is an added advantage.
  • Good communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automotive components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Create 3D models, detailed part drawings, BOMs, and production-ready assemblies.
  • Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Develop designs considering structural performance such as bending, torsion, stiffness, and fatigue.
  • Work on sheet metal design, stamping, and joining processes (welding, riveting, adhesives, fasteners).
  • Collaborate with CAE teams to interpret simulation results and optimize designs.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability, cost, and quality requirements (DFM / DFA).
  • Support prototype build, validation, testing, and engineering change management.
  • Participate in design reviews and work cross-functionally with manufacturing, electrical, and program teams.
  • Support material selection and lightweighting initiatives where applicable.
