Job summary

Vontier in India seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop and validate 3D models and drawings for mechanical components and assemblies. You will use Creo for modeling, apply GD&T, and perform FMEA to ensure robust designs.

Responsibilities include coordinating with manufacturing and operations, and supporting engineering changes using Windchill and SAP. Prior experience with CAD, PLM, and ERP tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Design of components (sheet metal, plastics, castings, rubber, etc.) and subsystems.
• Hands‑on experience on design calculations.
• Experience interacting with operations teams.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, FMEA, and FEA.
• Experience with CAD, PLM, and ERP tools.

Job Overview

To design, develop, analyze, validate and document detailed 3D models and drawings of mechanical components and assemblies. Use calculations and simulations (FEA and CFD) to validate designs during the design process, bridging the gap between design engineering and operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed solid models and drawings (considering DFA, DFM, DFS, etc.) using Creo 3 for the dispenser platform.
• Select and specify materials to satisfy design intent while minimizing costs.
• Apply theoretical knowledge of design and mechanical engineering principles to solutions.
• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups for designs and use FMEA.
• Perform engineering change management activities using Windchill and SAP.
• Validate product performance and safety factors using finite element analysis (FEA) for structural analysis.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams for new product introduction and production line support.
• Perform engineering and CFT builds to validate designs.

Required Skills / Qualifications

• Design of components (sheet metal, plastics, castings, rubber, etc.), subsystems, and system level.
• Hands‑on experience on design calculations.
• Working experience interacting with operations teams.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, FMEA, and FEA.
• Experience with commonly used CAD, PLM, and ERP tools.

Preferable Experience

• Experience with Creo‑Windchill and SAP.
• Experience in automotive component design (sheet metal, plastics), home appliances, and consumer products.
• Experience handling a variety of materials.
