Job summary

TransUnion is seeking an Engineer, Data Development to design, build and maintain BI solutions leveraging SQL Server 2017+, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS and Power BI. You will contribute across the data ecosystem and collaborate with teams to deliver scalable BI/DW projects.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in BI or data engineering, strong T-SQL, and comfort with Cloud (GCP) and Fabric technologies. This role offers hybrid work arrangements and collaboration with global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant discipline preferred.
• Microsoft Certification (MCP or higher) preferred.
• At least 5 years' experience in BI, data engineering or related field.
• Proficient in SQL Server 2017+ with SSIS/SSAS/SSRS and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance BI solutions including data warehouses using SQL Server 2017, SSIS/SSAS/RS and Power BI.
• Produce and run unit tests and participate in design and requirements capture of BI initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and debug BI systems and data warehouses to support defect analysis and fixes.
• Collaborate across the organization and mentor junior data engineers in BI/DW best practices.

Summary of Role: The role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing Business Intelligence solutions for TransUnion using SQL Server 2017, supporting BI tools and Microsoft Fabric.

Qualifications

• Education to degree level (or higher) in relevant discipline preferred
• Microsoft Certification in relevant technology (MCP or higher) preferred
• Must have at least 5 years' experience working in a business intelligence, data engineering or data related field.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Business Intelligence Solutions, including database systems and Data Warehouses, using SQL Server 2017, Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Master Data Management, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Fabric, GCP as appropriate.
• Produce and run unit tests to ensure high quality of all changes and participating in the design and requirements capturing of new Business Intelligence initiatives
• Problem solve and debug complex Business Intelligence systems, including database systems and Data Warehouses, to allow defect analysis and fixing
• Collaborate across organization and be technical expert on Business Intelligence solutions.
• Work with the team to ensure continuous process improvement Mentor and train junior data engineers and guide them in understanding BI&DW best practices and standards.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities Skills

Must have a passion for programming and data analytics Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). Advanced level familiarity with BI technologies (e.g., SSAS, SSRS). Experience in Microsoft Fabric. Advanced experience using automated testing (e. g SQL Server database Unit Testing, Specflow). Modern development practices such as Agile, source control, coding standards for example Plans, organizes, and manoeuvres obstacles to deliver results Critical thinking skills to identify root cause and permanent resolution Experience with REST based API Experience in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modelling) Experience with cloud technologies and Python would be considered as advantage. Must be fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience: Commercial experience of Business Intelligence development using SQL Server 2017 and higher version, SSDT Including IS/ AS/ RS, stored procedures, views, and functions Experience of SQL Server 2017 Analysis Services (Tabular) PowerPivot Experience of writing unit tests and using build systems in conjunction with database systems Experience with large databases Qualifications: Education to degree level (or higher) in relevant discipline preferred Must have at least 5 years of experience working in a business intelligence, data engineering or data related field.
