Job summary

Aurora Energy Research Limited in Gurugram, India, is seeking an Energy Modelling Analyst to join the Modelling team. The role focuses on building and refining energy market models for the Asia-Pacific region, developing analytical tools and delivering insights to support client decisions.

You will work with software and engineering teams, collaborate with research and consulting, and contribute to tool development and methodology improvements.

Qualifications

This is a unique international opportunity for a recent university graduate or a professional seeking to build their career in the energy sector and join our Gurugram office as an Energy Modelling Analyst. The role will focus on modelling power markets in the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to our efforts by developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing our modelling methodology, analysing data, formulating recommendations on future trends, and conveying insights to enhance clients decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Aurora’s suite of energy market models
• Work closely with our software and engineering teams to turn Aurora’s models into software that delivers actionable insight for real‑world energy decision
• Collaborate with our research and consulting teams to derive insights from model results
• Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates

What we are looking for

Required attributes:

• Relevant degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or another quantitative field
• A genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and the ability to explain your reasoning clearly
• Experience working with quantitative data through coursework, projects, or internships, including analysing data and drawing insights
• Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Proficiency in English

Desirable attributes:

• Relevant Master’s degree or PhD
• Internship, research, or work experience in a quantitative or technical setting
• An interest in energy markets and how well‑designed models improve real-world decisions
• Knowledge of statistical and/or optimization techniques
• Comfortable using AI tools to support coding and analysis, with a critical eye for reviewing AI-generated outputs
