Job summary

Narayana Health seeks a senior Emergency Medicine physician to provide expert-level care for emergency and critically ill patients across trauma, cardiac, neurological and medical emergencies. You will lead resuscitation and stabilization in high-acuity cases and supervise junior doctors, residents, nurses, and paramedics.

Qualifications

  • MBBS + MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MD in Internal Medicine/Anesthesia with Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years post-specialization (flexible based on hospital policies)
  • Valid registration with the Medical Council (State/National)

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level care for emergency and critically ill patients across trauma, cardiac, neurological and medical emergencies.
  • Lead emergency resuscitation and stabilization efforts in high-acuity scenarios.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, and paramedics.
  • Make timely decisions about admissions, discharges, and referrals in coordination with other specialties.
  • Liaise with ICU, surgical, medical, radiology, and specialty teams for multidisciplinary management.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency care protocols and clinical pathways.
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety, clinical governance, and hospital quality standards.
  • Participate in departmental audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical improvement initiatives.
  • Involve in emergency preparedness, mass casualty incident management, and disaster response planning.
  • Engage in academic activities, including clinical teaching, simulation training, and CME programs.
  • Support the hospital's accreditation processes (NABH/JCI or equivalent).

Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Qualification: MBBS + MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MD in Internal Medicine/Anesthesia with Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (or equivalent international qualification)
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years post-specialization (flexible based on hospital policies)
  • Licensure: Valid registration with the Medical Council (State/National)
Key Skills
  • Proficiency in emergency procedures: airway management, central lines, point-of-care ultrasound, etc.
  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and crisis management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and emergency care documentation
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience in trauma centers, cardiac arrest teams, or mass casualty care
  • Certification in ACLS, ATLS, PALS (mandatory/preferred based on role)
  • Interest in research, quality improvement, and teaching .
