JOB DESCRIPTION EMERGENCY MEDICINE DOCTOR

Duties & Responsibilities:

• 1.Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• 2.Stabilize critically ill or injured patients before admission, referral, or transfer.
• 3.Manage medical emergencies, trauma cases, poisoning, burns, cardiac emergencies, stroke, respiratory emergencies, and other life-threatening conditions.
• 4.Perform emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation, defibrillation, central venous access, suturing, wound care, fracture stabilization, and emergency resuscitation.
• 5.Coordinate with consultants and specialists for timely patient management and referrals.
• 6.Admit patients to the appropriate department after initial stabilization when required.
• 7.Interpret laboratory investigations, ECGs, X-rays, CT scans, and other diagnostic reports relevant to emergency care.
• 8Prescribe medications and ensure appropriate emergency treatment is provided.
• 9.Maintain accurate and complete medical records, emergency notes, consent forms, and treatment documentation.
• 10.Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
• 11.Follow infection prevention and control practices at all times.
• 12.Ensure proper use and maintenance of emergency equipment, crash carts, ventilators, monitors, and defibrillators.
• 13.Participate in disaster management, mass casualty incidents, and emergency preparedness drills.
• 14.Work closely with Nursing, ICU, Operation Theatre, Laboratory, Radiology, Blood Bank, and Ambulance Services for coordinated patient care.
• 15.Ensure compliance with NABH standards, hospital policies, clinical protocols, and statutory regulations.

Qualification:

MBBS with MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MD General Medicine with relevant emergency care experience

Valid State Medical Council Registration.
