Job Description
At BMW TechWorks India, a joint venture between the BMW Group and Tata Technologies, we engineer in India for the world. With our offices in Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai we are a key building block in delivering software and IT solutions for whole BMW. Starting from contributions to the software defined vehicle (SDV), digital infotainment to automotive digital services.
In our project, we develop standardized software solutions for Classic AUTOSAR ECUs, focusing on robustness, reliability, integration, and testability.
We are looking for a motivated Software Tester – AUTOSAR Classic to contribute to software testing, validation, and test automation for automotive embedded systems.
What awaits you?
- You will contribute to the verification and validation of AUTOSAR Classic-based ECU software
- You will analyze software requirements and specifications and derive appropriate test scenarios and test cases
- You will develop and execute manual and automated software tests for embedded automotive systems
- You will create and maintain automated test scripts using Python and other suitable scripting languages
- You will test AUTOSAR Classic software components, BSW modules, RTE interfaces, and ECU functionality
- You will perform unit, integration, and software-level testing and support continuous improvement of test coverage
- You will work with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
- You will develop and execute communication and network-related test scenarios
- You will perform diagnostic testing, including UDS, DTC handling, and ECU diagnostic functions
- You will use tools such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ECU-Test, Trace32, ETAS INCA, or equivalent for testing, debugging, and analysis
- You will support CAPL-based test automation and CANoe Restbus simulation where applicable
- You will analyze test results, investigate failures, and support defect identification, reporting, tracking, and resolution
- You will collaborate with software developers, system engineers, architects, test engineers, and project managers to resolve issues and improve software quality
- You will contribute to the continuous improvement of test methodologies, automation frameworks, and development processes
- You will work according to V-Model and/or Agile/Scrum development methodologies
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification
- Fluent business English
- Good understanding of AUTOSAR Classic architecture, including: Layered architecture, Basic Software (BSW), Runtime Environment (RTE), Software Components (SWCs)
- Understanding of C/C++ programming and debugging concepts in an embedded software environment
- Experience with test automation tools and scripting languages, particularly Python
- Ability to analyze software requirements and specifications and derive corresponding test cases
- Understanding of software testing principles, test planning, test execution, and defect management
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and multicultural teams
Nice to have:
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification; Advanced Level is an additional advantage
- Experience with unit testing of embedded software using CUnit, CTC++, or similar frameworks
- Experience with CAPL scripting, particularly for CANoe Restbus simulation and communication protocol testing
- Hands-on experience with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
- Experience with diagnostics, including UDS / ISO 14229, OBD, and DTC handling
- Experience with automotive test tools such as Vector CANoe / CANalyzer, ECU-Test, Lauterbach TRACE32
