Job summary

Hilti India is seeking a Junior Embedded Software Developer to contribute to reusable low-level firmware components used across Hilti power tools and batteries.

You will collaborate with the software architect to define requirements, design maintainable solutions, implement them in C/C++, and ensure quality via automated tests and hands-on debugging on target hardware in an agile team.

Qualifications

• Basics of Git and disciplined code reviews.
• Understanding MCU basics (memory, interrupts, peripherals).
• Interest in testing and code quality (static analysis/coding rules).
• Any experience with CI, unit test frameworks, or HIL/SIL exposure.
• Knowledge in embedded C (and/or C++) and embedded systems.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechatronics, software engineering, computer science or relevant disciplines.
• Minimum 2 years of professional working experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop reusable embedded firmware modules in C/C++ focusing on portability, maintainability and safety.
• Translate stakeholder needs into clear software requirements and designs.
• Debug and analyze issues on target hardware; support integration into tool projects.
• Create unit/integration tests and support CI execution.
• Contribute to build/toolchain topics and tooling improvements.
• Work in an agile team with code reviews and TDD.

As a Junior Embedded Software Developer in the embedded platform (base libraries) team, you contribute to reusable low-level firmware components used across Hilti power tools and batteries.

You collaborate with stakeholders and the software architect to define requirements, design maintainable solutions, implement them in C/C++, and ensure quality through automated tests and hands‑on debugging on target hardware.

What You'll Do

Develop and maintain reusable embedded firmware modules (platform/libraries) in C/C++ with focus on portability, maintainability, performance, and functional safety.

• Participate in requirements discussions; translate stakeholder needs into clear software
• Support integration into tool projects; analyze and debug issues on target hardware
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests (including HiL where applicable) and support execution in continuous integration
• Contribute to build/toolchain topics and small improvements in the development environment
• Work in an agile team using modern practices such as code reviews, test-driven development, and continuous integration
